2017 Ram 1500 Limited Interior

Just because you need the practicality of a pickup truck doesn’t mean that you have to make do without a beautiful interior full of high-tech amenities. Today’s top-of-the-line vehicles are equipped like luxury sedans and include features such as leather interiors, high-end audio systems, active safety features, fancy trim and upgraded seating.

To help narrow down the field, the expert editors at Autobytel have done the research and come up with a list of the 10 best truck interiors, with a ranking that makes its way from 10th place all the way to No. 1. So whether you’re in the market for a full-size pickup with tons of capability or a compact one that’s practical and easy to drive, if you want a truck that has an upscale interior you'll want to read more to see how they compare.

10) 2017 Nissan Frontier SL

The Nissan Frontier SL (with an MSRP starting at $32,710) is the oldest pickup on the market, and, not surprisingly; as a result, it sits at the bottom of our list. Inside you get leather upholstery, heated front seats, a dual-zone automatic temperature control, remote keyless entry, a NissanConnect infotainment system with a 5.8-inch touchscreen and navigation, and a 10-speaker Rockford Fosgate-powered audio system — as well as an abundance of hard plastic and the general impression of a truck from years back. A power sliding glass moonroof is the only real option available; the Frontier SL is only available as a crew cab, though both rear- and four-wheel drive are offered.

9) 2017 Toyota Tacoma Limited

The Toyota Tacoma Limited (with an MSRP starting at $39,250) is a very capable compact truck, but unfortunately, it’s only available as a double cab with a short bed and its interior can't quite compete with the fanciest, most up-to-date pickups. You do get a fairly good ride, leather-trimmed seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, Qi-compatible wireless smartphone and mobile device charging, a seven-speaker premium JBL audio system with integrated navigation and a smart key system with push-button start. There is some hard plastic in evidence, and the overall impression that you get is one of utility and purpose rather than luxury — which helps explain why the Tacoma sits near the bottom of our list of the 10 best truck interiors.

8) 2017 Chevrolet Colorado Z71

Unlike its full-size sibling, the Chevrolet Silverado, the Colorado isn’t available in Chevy's ultra-luxurious High Country variant, making the Z71 (starting at $35,780) the Colorado's the top trim level. Standard features include automatic climate control, heated front seats, a Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system with 8-inch diagonal color touchscreen, a six-speaker audio system, remote keyless entry and a remote vehicle starter system. Options to jazz up the interior include navigation, a seven-speaker Bose audio system and the Premium Interior Package, which includes an all-weather floor liner and the Interior Illumination Package. The inside of the Colorado is still a pleasant place to be, but it isn’t quite as nice as some other trucks and thus earns a spot near the bottom of our list.

7) 2017 Nissan Titan Platinum Reserve

Despite having a price to rival some competing full-size trucks, the Nissan Titan Platinum Reserve (starting at $52,760) can’t quite match their interiors. Standard features include two-tone leather seats, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry, remote start, heated and cooled front seats and heated rear outboard seats, a surround-view camera and a 12-speaker Rockford Fosgate audio system. A rear DVD entertainment system, 4G WiFi, and a wireless smartphone charger are optional, but missing are options like a sunroof, parking assist, and advanced driver aids. Like other trucks on our list, the Platinum Reserve is only available as a crew cab, in either rear- or four-wheel drive.

6) 2017 Toyota Tundra Platinum

With the Toyota Tundra Platinum (starting at $50,130), what you see is what you get. There are no real options available other than a few accessories, a choice of colors and whether you want rear- or four-wheel drive. The Tundra’s design is a bit dated at this point, but though other pickups ride better and are more luxurious, you still get a fairly sizable list of standard features. Those include heated and ventilated leather front seats, dual-zone climate control, a premium 12-speaker JBL audio system with navigation, and a power moonroof with a sliding sunshade. Like many of the pickups on our list, the Platinum is only available as a CrewMax crew cab with a short bed.

5) 2017 GMC Canyon Denali

The GMC Canyon Denali (starting at $39,205) is one of the most luxurious compact pickups that you can buy, but while it’s comfortable and everything is easy to use, it isn’t quite up to the standards set by full-size trucks. (We assume that a Canyon up to those standards would probably cost too much to market successfully.) Options are few and far between; instead, just about everything that’s available comes standard, including keyless entry and a remote vehicle starter system, aluminum interior trim, heated front seats, an 8-inch IntelliLink infotainment system with navigation and a premium seven-speaker Bose audio system. Unfortunately, like some other trucks, the Denali trim is limited to models with a crew cab and either a short or long box.

4) 2018 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition

The Honda Ridgeline Black Edition (starting at $43,120) is the only vehicle on our list that is built like a car with a unibody instead of using a separate frame. That means the Ridgeline drives and, more importantly, rides like a car. The Black Edition comes fully loaded with a leather-trimmed interior, an eight-speaker premium audio system, push-button start and a tri-zone automatic climate control system with humidity control and air filtration. It also features a host of safety features, including lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control. The only real annoyance with the Ridgeline’s interior is the infotainment system, which could use a few extra physical buttons, though thankfully there are steering-wheel mounted controls.

3) 2017 GMC Sierra Denali / 2017 Chevrolet Silverado High Country

The GMC Sierra Denali (starting at $53,800) and Chevrolet Silverado High Country (starting at $51,700) siblings share third place on our list. Both trucks offer very similar high-end interiors, and both include an 8-inch infotainment system with navigation, a premium seven-speaker Bose audio system, wireless phone charging, heated and cooled seating, lane-keep assist and remote keyless entry with remote start. The Denali also comes standard with the MagneRide suspension that makes for a smooth and comfortable ride. Optional features include active noise cancellation, a power sunroof, and a rear entertainment system. The Denali and the High Country are only available as a crew cab with a short or standard bed.

2) 2018 Ford F-150 Limited

Lincoln doesn’t make a pickup anymore, but aside from a few hard plastics. Ford’s top-of-the-line F-150 Limited (starting at $60,520) could just about pass for a model from the company's luxury brand. The only real options on the F-150 Limited are whether you want two- or four-wheel drive, trailer towing equipment, and an extended-range fuel tank. Just about everything else you could want is standard, including premium leather, a 10-speaker B&O Play audio system, a twin-panel power moonroof, adaptive cruise control, a lane-keeping system and heated second-row seats with inflatable safety belts. The only downside (other than the steep price) is that it’s only available as a four-door SuperCrew crew cab model with a standard bed.

1) 2017 Ram 1500 Limited

The RAM 1500 Limited (starting at $52,875) takes the top spot on our list of the 10 best truck interiors thanks to a few unique features including leather upholstery, real wood accents and an air suspension (which isn’t part of the interior but does help the Ram's ride). We’re not particularly fond of the grille that comes on the Limited, but since this is a list of the best interiors, we’ll let that slide. Standard features include the great Uconnect 8.4 infotainment system with navigation, keyless entry and ignition, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated second-row seats, while a power sunroof is optional. Unfortunately the Limited is available only as a crew cab with either a short or standard bed — as with most of these trucks, other body styles are limited to more basic interior trim.
