New Car Rebates and Incentives: January 16, 2014

The first month of 2014 is a great time to not only snag rebates and incentives on current editions of new cars and new trucks, but also take advantage of the deals to be had on leftover 2013 inventory.  Our list this week includes the 2014 Dodge Avenger mid-size sedan, which features the choice between 1.9% financing plus $1,500 cash back or $3,000 in total factory cash rebates, followed by the 2013 Nissan Quest minivan and its combination of zero percent financing plus $500 in cash back or a whopping $2,500 in total cash back.  We also have the 2014 Hyundai Equus full-size sedan and its available 3.9% financing plus $1,500 cash back or $1,500 in total cash rebates, along with the 2013 Toyota Highlander mid-size crossover and its choice between 0.0% percent purchase financing or $1,000 in cash back.  Finally, we wrap things up with the 2013 Mazda CX-9 full-size crossover and its bundling of zero percent financing with $1,000 in factory cash rebates.

2014 Dodge Avenger

The 2014 Dodge Avenger is an affordable mid-size family sedan that also offers a bit of style when ordered in R/T trim.  The Dodge Avenger R/T includes quicker steering and a stiffer suspension system in addition to its upgraded looks.

The 2014 Dodge Avenger is initially outfitted with a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine that is good for 173 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque.  Fuel mileage for this engine is listed at 20-mpg in city driving and 31-mpg on the highway.  Stepping up to the Avenger's optional 3.6-liter V-6 (standard on the R/T), introduces 283 horses and 260 lb-ft of torque.  Transmission choices for the sedan include a four-speed and a six-speed automatic.

2013 Nissan Quest

The 2013 Nissan Quest provides minivan shoppers with unique looks combined with an above-average driving experience for its class.  The 2013 Nissan Quest can also seat up to seven passengers, as well as transport as much as 108 cubic feet of cargo with the two rear rows out of the picture.

The 2013 Nissan Quest is motivated by a 3.5-liter V-6 that produces 260 horses and 240 lb-ft of torque.  A six-speed automatic transmission handles the shifting duties for the Quest, and fuel mileage for the minivan checks in at 19-mpg in stop and go driving and 25-mpg on the highway.

2014 Hyundai Equus

The 2014 Hyundai Equus is a full-size luxury sedan that makes its mark by pricing itself far lower than many of its European and Japanese competitors.  The Hyundai Equus also offers a top-tier ownership experience in terms of service and maintenance that is lacking from many other automobiles near its MSRP.

The 2014 Hyundai Equus comes exclusively with a 429 horsepower, 5.0-liter V-8.  Also capable of generating 376 lb-ft of torque, this eight-cylinder engine is matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission.  Fuel efficiency figures for the Equus show as 15-mpg around town and 23-mpg during highway cruising.

2013 Toyota Highlander

The 2013 Toyota Highlander is a mid-size crossover that provides substantial value one model year before its most recent redesign.  The Toyota Highlander offers seven passenger seating, as well as 95.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first two positions.

The 2013 Toyota Highlander's base 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that is good for 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque.  A 3.5-liter V-6 is also available, and it offers a healthier 270 horses and 248 lb-ft of torque.  A six-speed automatic is standard with the former mill, while a five-speed automatic comes with the V-6, and fuel mileage for the smaller motor squeaks ahead of the larger with a rating of 20-mpg city and 25-mpg highway.  All-wheel drive is offered exclusively as an option with the Highlander V-6.

2013 Mazda CX-9

The 2013 Mazda CX-9 is a large crossover that drives like a much more modestly-sized vehicle thanks to its precise chassis tuning.  The Mazda CX-9 is also extremely practical thanks to its adult-friendly seating for up to seven people, along with its 101 cubic feet of total cargo space.

The 2013 Mazda CX-9 features a 3.7-liter V-6 that produces 273 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission assists the CX-9 in delivering fuel mileage of 17-mpg in city driving and 24-mpg on the highway in front wheel drive trim.  All-wheel drive is also available with the Mazda as an option.
