You can chalk up another record for the 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat: The world's fastest, most powerful production muscle car is now No. 1 on the charity charts, too, after raising $1.65 million at a recent Barrett-Jackson auction in Las Vegas. The money will go to Opportunity Village—"a not-for-profit organization that serves people with significant intellectual disabilities in the Las Vegas area—and the 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat will go to Rick Hendrick, who also owns a number of Chrysler Group dealerships along with his Bowtie-backed Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR team.

Hendrick's winning bid for the 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat was $825,000, with the Engelstad Family Foundation matching that amount to set the new high-water mark for charity donations from a Barrett-Jackson auction.

Said Tim Kuniskis, president and CEO of the Dodge and SRT brands for the Chrysler Group LLC: “The $1.65 million raised by auctioning this one-of-one Dodge Challenger Hellcat at this year’s Barrett-Jackson auction means the most powerful muscle car ever will also have a very powerful impact on the people who benefit from the services of Opportunity Village. The VIN0001 muscle car was not only one of the hottest cars that rolled through the Barrett-Jackson auction lanes, it is also the ultimate collectible 2015 Dodge Challenger as Dodge is ensuring there will never be another one like it.”

Thus, along with VIN0001, Hendrick's new Hellcat wears a Stryker Red finish—usually reserved solely for the Dodge Viper—and boasts exclusive badging and a special memorabilia package that includes a custom key fob, 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat lithograph, embossed leather iPad sleeve, and "birth certificate."

Of course, drivers looking for a Hellcat of their own will soon be able to find out at their local dealerships, where the 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat will combine 707 hp, 650 lb.-ft. of torque, EPA ratings that reach 22 mpg highway and an MSRP of $59,995.

Added Linda Smith, associate executive director for Opportunity Village: “We are so unbelievably thankful for the support of Dodge and Barrett-Jackson. We are touched by their amazing generosity and support of our mission here to support individuals with disabilities by giving them the chance to lead independent and fulfilling lives.”
