toyota valvematic 2014 corolla
Toyota's Valvematic is an engine technology that enhances both engine efficiency and performance. Unlike most gasoline engines, which use a throttle body to control the amount of air entering the combustion chamber, engines with the Valvematic system adjust the intake volume by adjusting the amount of valve lift and the timing of valve opening and closing.
Eliminating the throttle body increases throttle response because the air is now available directly to the intake valves as soon as the throttle pedal is depressed. The system also reduces the pumping losses normally caused by the engine vacuum found at the throttle plate. The 2.0 Valvematic engine improves fuel economy by 5-10%, increases performance by 10%, and reduces C02 emissions. The 2014 Toyota Corolla is the first car sold in North America to be equipped with the Valvematic technology.
