The Honda Earth Dreams 2.4 liter engine was first available in the Honda Accord, backed by either a 6-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (or CVT). The 16-valve DOHC 4 cylinder engine has an 11:1 compression ratio and develops 185 HP and 181 lb-ft of torque (189 HP and 182 lb-ft of torque on the Sport model). The engine uses the i-VTEC system with Variable Timing Control (or VTC) and direct injection for better combustion and more efficient use of fuel. The engine is 5% more fuel efficient while still producing 10% more torque than the previous engine. In the Accord with the CVT the car is rated at 27 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway.
The Accord comes with an ECON button that configures parts of the car such as the fuel-consuming systems to optimize the engine’s fuel efficiency, helping you get more miles per tank. There is also an Eco Assist System to help the driver change their driving habits in order to further improve fuel economy. The Active Noise Cancellation (or ANC) reduces low frequency drivetrain and road noise, resulting in a quiet relaxed ride.
