What Is The Fiat Dualogic Transmission?

The Fiat Dualogic transmission is a 'clutchless' manual gearbox that can be used in either automatic or manual (or semi-automatic) mode. The gearbox is a robotized manual transmission where both the gear selection and clutch are managed by an electronic control unit and actuated using hydraulic fluid, so there is no clutch pedal for the driver to worry about. When in manual mode you simply move a shift lever forwards or backwards to change gears. In automatic mode the transmission works like a traditional automatic, but with the benefit of the increased fuel economy commonly found with manual transmissions.
