The BMW Z4 is a two-door hard-top convertible powered by a 240 HP (sDrive28i) 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder or 300 HP (sDrive35i) or 335 HP (sDrive35is) 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 engine. Power is sent to the rear wheels of sDrive28i cars via a 6-speed manual or 8-speed Sport automatic transmission, while sDrive35i models get either a 6-speed manual or optional 7-speed double clutch transmission. All sDrive35is cars get the 7-speed double clutch unit. The optional M Sport package, available on the sDrive28i and sDrive35i, includes upgrades to help make the car more performance oriented.

On the outside of the car, the package includes an aerodynamic kit and 18” wheels and performance run-flat tires, with 19” rubber optional on 6-cylinder models. Inside you get sport seats, an anthracite headliner, M Aluminum Carbon Shadow or Anthracite Wood Trim, and an M steering wheel (with paddles on vehicles equipped with automatic or double clutch transmissions). Under the skin, the M Sport package includes the Adaptive M Suspension to provide optimal handling without sacrificing comfort. The M Sport package is not available on sDrive35is models as the model includes all the options in the package as standard features.
