What is the BMW Ski Bag?

The BMW ski bag is a bag used to protect the interior of the car from becoming soiled or damaged when transporting skis. On older models, the ski bag was attached to the pass-through in the rear seat and unfolded into the passenger compartment, protecting the upholstery from snow and water. When not in use, the ski bag folds back in and is covered by a piece of trim.

On newer models, instead of an integrated ski bag, the cars have an open pass through in the rear seat for longer objects such as skis and snowboards. BMW also sells aftermarket vehicle-specific ski bags engineered with tethering straps to keep everything in place. The bags can be removed from the vehicle and used to transport your equipment to the slopes, and depending on the model, should hold a fair number of skis or a few snowboards.
