Audi's Adaptive Air Suspension is an electronically controlled suspension system that uses air springs on all four corners of the vehicle. Data from accelerometers and sensors on the axles is sent to a central control unit which then makes the appropriate adjustment to the suspension, adjusting each corner individually in milliseconds. As the vehicle increases speed the air suspension can lower the vehicle, lowering its center of gravity and improving aerodynamics. When driving on smooth straight roads the system softens for a comfortable ride. Through corners or when braking the Adaptice Air Suspension will firm up, reducing body roll. The system also levels the car, maintaining a constant height no matter what load you are carrying. The system can be adjusted through the MMI system.
