Lexus Smart Stop technology is a safety technology that is standard on all new Lexus automobiles. The system is designed to reduce engine power under certain circumstances when the system detects that both the throttle and brake are pressed at the same time. If the vehicle is traveling faster than 5 mph and the throttle is open more than one-third the system will automatically activate when the brakes are firmly applied. The feature only works if the accelerator was pressed before the brake pedal, and automatically disengages when the brake pedal is released.
