2015 fiat 500
Fiat’s MSR (or Motor Schleppmoment Regelung, which loosely translates to ‘engine drag torque control’) system is a part of their electronic stability control package. When the car’s computer detects that the wheels have locked up because of a downshift and engine braking, the MSR system automatically opens the throttle just enough to keep the wheels moving and the vehicle under control. It works in the opposite way as their ASR (Anti Schlupf Regelung, or ‘anti-skid control’) traction control system, which cuts power when the wheels start spinning during acceleration.
