Audi magnetic ride is a system that can alter the firmness of the shock absorber by using a magnetic field. The system allows drivers to choose between a comfort mode or a sport mode depending on how they are planning to drive the vehicle. The fluid in the shock absorbers has magnetic particles in it and a magnetic field is applied to align the particles against the direction of movement of the shock absorber; the stronger the magnetic field, the more damping force. The system can respond to different driving conditions almost instantly based on information from the wheel travel sensors, ESP, and steering system in order to provide the ideal amount of damping.
