*WEEKLY* Meguiar’s Automotive Paint Care Series Intro How to Wash and Detail Your Car

Autobytel has a new weekly video series about taking care of one of your favorite assets — your car. With the expert help of Meguiar’s, and their product expert Mike Pennington, this video series will cover a range of car care topics. This is the first, Introduction to Paint Care. There are a lot of products to choose from, and a lot of confusing and contradictory advice floating around. However, Meguiar’s tries to make it simple. According to Meguiar’s, paint care can be broken down into three steps. The first priority is to evaluate your car’s finish, inspecting the clear coat and paint for flaws. Problems like this include scratches and swirl marks, and it’s important to be aware of these types of damage because some of it can actually be repaired or minimized with the proper car care products and techniques. The second step of car care is to learn about and select the proper products, which fall into five categories: washing, cleaning, polishing, protecting, and maintaining. (Nope, washing and cleaning are not the same thing.) The last step of car care is to use the products properly. It’s not enough to buy the right product; using it incorrectly can cause more damage to your car. This is just a primer, so keep an eye out for the rest of this Autobytel video series.
