The Volvo XC90 is a four-door five-passenger luxury sport utility vehicle. The Volvo XC90 was introduced to the market in 2003 as Volvo’s first SUV. It shares the same platform as the XC70. This SUV was specifically designed to not have the same rollover issues of other SUVs with its Roll Stability Control system. The vehicle remained the same through 2004 and by 2005 the Volvo XC90 received a V8 engine.

The XC90 is available in four trims – 3.2, 3.2 R-Design, V8, and V8 R-Design. Under the hood of the base 3.2 trim is a 3.2 L inline six-cylinder that offers 235 horsepower. This engine is paired with a six-speed Geartronic automatic transmission. For the V8 R-Design, there is a 4.4 L V8 engine that produces 311 horsepower. This engine is matched up to the same six-speed Geartronic automatic transmission. All vehicles have all-wheel drive with Instant Traction available. It is standard on the V8 models and optional on the 3.2 trim.

The EPA fuel economy rating for the 2009 Volvo XC90 with the 3.2 I6 engine is 14 miles per gallon in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.

The interior of the vehicle is nicely styled with cushy seats and a touch of luxury. Elegant yet functional, classy yet comfortable, this SUV adds a whole new level of driver comfort. Capable of seating five except the back passengers need to be smaller to fit easily. The cargo space is large at 21.6 cubic feet with the seats upright.
