Pros: The seats.the stereo, the ride.
Cons: storage in front
Advice: rides like a cloud for a SUV. Handles like a fine European road car.
Quiet, alert, comfortable, able to do anything you want, when you want. Car is luxurious along with utilitarian. No need to worry, this car will rise to the occasion, whatever the need. At the same time you'll have the peace of mind you are in the safest vehicle on the planet. Lacking some nooks and crannys of my previous V70 for storage, but much more sophisticated in all other ways. Great car !Pros: Wonderful leather seats.
Cons: Couldn't get one with multi-CD changer in dash.
Advice: Drive it thoroughly to see how comfortable it is.
A wonderful car to drive. More than adequate power, handles very well, great in wet services. Seats are extremely comfortable, stereo is outstanding, 3rd seat allows 7 passengers. A great family all purpose vehicle that's not a minivan or SUV.Pros: styling and driving pleasure
Cons: costly 30,000 mile service
Advice: definitely check out this car and I am sure for the price you will be satisfied
This auto is superb for a family or someone who wants a quality, safe and fun car to drive. The fit and finish is superb. We added on the optional redwood to the dash, radio, and all plastic interior areas. This made such a difference for the seemingly steep price of $795.00. Let me assure you it was worth every penny.Pros: the seats and the looks
Cons: read detail review
Advice: wait for the xc90 latter this year or the chrysler pacifica in 2003 wow!
love this car! test drove for 4 days(rental)but can't bring myself to buy one for the following reasons...dashboard refections on the windshield due to the rake. windshield wipers way to slow and does't cover enough area on the passenger side nor the rear window.not enough horsepower in the xc crosscountry.radio controls are to difficult.armrests on doors are way to small and hard as a rock!steering is to light. headlamps, not bright enough.grab handles are in bad place they could cause head damage in a accident.dirty front wheels always due to brake dust.vibrations up the spine depending road conditions.sometimes has rattles.needs larger cup holders(spoiled!)wish it had a compass!dash cupholder bad idea.sorry ,volvo are you listening? i need a new car!Pros: New roof rack feature does not require roof rails. You buy a Thule-made rack from the dealer for a very modest price ($130) that fits into special hooks in the roof recess, but it is strong and is rated to carry 200 lbs. Much more sleek and better.
Cons: Nothing
Advice: I was ultimately offered a price about equal to invoice, with little to no haggling.
I have the non-Turbo for being a non-aggressive driver wanting optimal mileage. Definitely the car is very modest with the power, but that suits me fine. Otherwise, car is quiet, smooth, luxurious.Pros: Space and AWD
Cons: Performance
Advice: If you don't really need the AWD, consider the T5 version.
Very comfortable, spacious (especially for our dog). AWD is useful for back country driving in winter. A car I expect to own for a while. Could use bigger engine and more horsepower.Pros: Steering wheel moves when you get in and out of car. Wheel, seat, side view mirrors are linked to 1 custom setting.
Cons: learning the radio
Advice: If the vectoring doesn't bother you, check out the other wagons.
I have an 850 turbo wagon, fwd, and the 2002 XC shocked me in it's quality, performance, and handling. The 4wd overcomes the vectoring the fwd turbo exhibits when maximizing acceleration. I was surprised the XC only had 197 HP, versus the 222 HP on the turbo 850. Accelaration is smooth and it seemed as fast as the 850T. Quality is improved measureably, though the radio and temp controls take more than a couple mins to reorient.
