Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Rain sensing wipers
Cons: Back seat leg room
Advice: Do the maintenance per the schedule if your goal is to own a Volvo long termRush hour traffic in a major metropolitan area can make a driver feel very insecure. The S60 Turbo takes away the fear with its excellent acceleration and handling. Bought it used in '08 and looking forward to passing it on to one of my children when college comes.
Pros: brembo brakes
Cons: no rear passenger leg room - for a large car it has small back seats - this car should have been made a coupe.
Advice: if you need a high performance AWD turbo sports sedan - this is the one for you - if you need passenger space take a look at the V8 S80 modelexcellent road handling - after owning many high end Audi's, BMW's and Jaguar's - I never considered the S60 r volvo - but after one short test drive - I was completly amazed - great brakes, the brembo's are excellent - the optional 18 inch wheels with low profile tires grip the road and it just brings a smile to my face. This is Volvo's best kept secret!!!
Pros: None now.
Cons: Overall a poor choice.
Advice: Not worth the money or headaches. The 2006 S60 does not hold up in winter driving conditions. When snow or moisture gets in the wheel wells, the tires may seize up or become unstable (less round because of moisture freezing as the dealership tells me). Then the steering wheel will shake like I am holding on to a jack hammer (like the tires are severely out of balance) and I must take the nearest highway exit to immediately slow the speed of the car. Or the tire(s) will seize up and, according to the dealership, I am supposed to step on the gas or rock the car by going back and forth to free the tire(s). In my case, I had to have the car towed after a tire seized up. I rate this Volvo a minimum on safety and safety is why I purchased a Volvo. Now that I am wiser, this is my first and last Volvo. I notified the National Transportion Safety Assoc.
Pros: Sport kits
Advice: never buy this modelI have experiance a noises & high Vibrations coming from the car (from the breaking system), which look like is caused from an engineering faults in designing or making the gap between the Break disk and Break pads wider than what is should be. this issue been expericance since the first week of owning the car, and the local dealer workshop in the city i'm in now keep experimenting on the breaking system (changes many thing like, break disk, pads, model of break pads, lequid,...etc) and nothing took the sound off. Moreover, when you drive the car for long time, you will start to hear noises coming from the steering when you turn it, also it's happen that the car start to shack in the morning when first started or turnned on, and its went off after it self after that.
Cons: No compass
Advice: This car has been a delight to drive.I own an S60 - 2.5T. I decided on the Volvo for safety reasons. I bought my car with 3 miles on it. I'm about to trade it in with 47,200 miles. In almost 4 years I've had the car to the dealer ONCE for non-scheduled service, and that was to change a headlight, free of charge. The car has been an amazing surprise to me coming from a V8 Lincoln, with loads of power. I am looking at purchasing a 2006 AWD Volvo. For the money it's hard to compare.
Pros: Bluetooth technology
Cons: Backseat room
Advice: Wait for the dealer to drop the price; I saved $7,000Smooth ride - better than my last Audi A4; AWD handles well on corners and in snow weather. Features are well received, including new bluetooth technology. For those who want a luxury sports car without BMW or Audi price - but with the same handling, Volvo S60 is it.
Advice: Talk to a Volvo mechanic before purchasing, to find out all the gliches of a volvo.I love my car. I bought it for it's safety reputation. I've only had my car for eight months, it has 60,000 miles and things are already needing to be fixed. The passenger window only works when it wants to and strange noises come from under the hood and the check engine light seems to stay on. Not to mention the expensive service you pay for to have these things fixed. Should have bought the Nissan.
