Sweet car. I test drove the Benz 230 sport sedan and the Infiniti G35 before I was able to get my hands on this car, and I can say without a doubt that this car just had it. Performance was on par with the G35, without the twitchy brakes, and the interior was much more exciting and fresh than either car. Premium audio is worth it, especially if you have Busta Rhymes' 'Light ur Ass on fire' available to bump. You get a lot of car for your money. -

2004 Volvo S40 - LSE A SR ( for consumer ordering)
Pros: Beautiful car with unique styling that stands out among parking lots of Toyotas, Hondas, VWs, and Nissans.
Cons: I do wish they offered a stick shift in the '04 model; that has been added to the 2004.5 lineup.
Advice: Buy it!
Unlike Sykesville MD writer who was ashamed to include his name (is he a VW saleman or what?), I love everything about my '04 Volvo S40 LSE and I actually traded a '99 VW Jetta GLS VR6 for the Volvo. The VR6 might have a slight edge 0-60 but my S40 could run circles around a Jetta in curves or on a track like Laguna Seca. And on the highway the 5 speed automatic purrs along a low rpm getting great mpg (unlike a Jetta) until you need the power and step on it - then the turbo starts whistling and it takes off like a bat out of *%#$. The Volvo has been trouble-free, dealer service is better than my experiences with VW, Mitsubishi and Mercedes-Benz and unlike so many cookie-cutter brands I can actually find my car in the mall parking lot without mistaking it for dozens of cars just like (VW Jetta).
