Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Cargo space
Cons: The trunk needs some force to close.
Advice: It is amazing how much you can stuff in this wagon. Always buckle up youselves and your kids.Love the car. The gas milage is less than advertised, however. I got 23.5 mpg driving across the US and I average about 20 mpg in mixed conditions (mainly city and I don't drive like a maniac). Overall it is fun to drive. It is not the best performer, but after all, it is not a BMW. It has a European feel unlike the other cars I tested, except for the Volvo which would have been too small for me. Besides, the Passat Wagon GLX has the 4Motion (AWD) which is not available on the Volvo. I feel safe in the car, especially after reading all the reports. I am still happy I got the car after over 6500 miles. I guess Consumer Reports, the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, the car magazines and my guts weren't wrong. What ever car you choose, may you always be safe.
Pros: How everything is easily reached by the driver
Cons: how do you take the floor mats up to clean them?
Advice: Be prepared for a big suprise -- it is a great little carThis car looks really great and drives even better. I went from a Suburban to the Passat and feel extremely safe.
Cons: Cannot think of anything.
Advice: Buy now.Excellent handling. Acceleration is beautiful.
Cons: gas milage
Advice: beware of gas milageIt was not the test drive, but the performace after driving the car 4,000 miles. I was still only getting 22 miles to the gallon average in the Passat Wagon. I do almost all highway driving. prior to this I had a Lincoln which gave the same milage.
Pros: Accelration, sound system, versitility
Cons: Storage, seats
Advice: Not as hard to find as you may think - negoiate down to costExcellent overall vehicle - didn't see much difference in the V6 (not worth the extra $$). Needs some work in storage compartment between front seats (too small!). Also, seat bottoms could be a bit wider (a little uncomfortable).
Pros: Dash board and speed.
Advice: Test it out, bargain. buy it, don't do the lease.I purchased my 1.8 about a week ago and love it. Quiet and great pickup. I've owned several cars but this one is the best by far. I like the ride and the speed.
Cons: manual seat adjustment can be time consuming until you get it just right
Advice: Buy this car..you wont find one better for the price.Extremely smooth and powerful acceleration. I was going 80 before I realized it. I found it very quiet inside while driving, contrary to the professional review. Great car! Great features come standard whereas you have to pay for them in other cars out there.
