Premium Package Offered Only to Diesel Drivers
It's been ten years since Volkswagen first launched its upscale midsize crossover, and the brand is celebrating exactly the way you'd expect: By introducing a special 2014 VW Touareg X edition that will be limited to just 1,000 units. Which isn't much when you consider that VW already has sold more than 700,000 Touaregs globally, including more than 120,000 here in the United States.
Of course, none of those models offered the long list of standard goodies found on the 2014 VW Touareg X. The new range-topping Touareg starts life in a "Lux TDI" trim, complete with a full range of infotainment technologies and a high-torque, high-efficiency clean-diesel engine. It's a 3.0-liter V6 that serves up 240 hp, 406 lb.-ft. of torque and EPA ratings of up to 29 mpg highway, and that's with an also-standard 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system. The 2014 VW Toureg X then gets fitted with:
And that’s in addition to already-standard creature comforts from the Touareg Lux model, like a panoramic sunroof, Bluetooth, navigation with eight-inch color touchscreen, rearview camera, and Volkswagen’s Climatronic dual-zone air conditioning.
On sale at Volkswagen dealerships now, the 2014 VW Touareg X is priced from $56,170.
