    2005 Volvo V50 - T5 M FWD

Pros: exterior styling (wife got the red one)

Cons: road noise & low grade audio w/o the upgraded stereo.

Advice: Consider the Jaguar x-type(might cost more) or wait for the SAAB 93 wagon w/ 250HP (not AWD though)

I did an overnight test drive from a dealer in southern Maine & was quite impressed w/ the AWD T5's performance. A lot of wind noise on the highway and the power is adequate w/ the slushbox; I have to say though that the reviews from Caranddriver &/or roadandtrack are accurate in the sense that the manu-matic is the best I've driven compared to the G35, 330Xi & my current '05 S4. It gives the most control & does not up-shift at redline, just stays there & waits for your input. Do your homework: I got my AWD T5 w/ comfort & convenience pakage at 28.8K (let delers w/in 150 mile radius compete for your business). My wife took 2 hours to decide bet black & red; but I agreed w/ her, this car looks sharper in red. Our prev '04 330 Xi & current '05 S4 are black.

    2005 Volvo V50 - T5 M FWD

    Pros: Plenty of power

Cons: the only bother not a dislike is the somewhat tight back seat

Advice: Be absolutely ready to fall in love and please drive it hard I think it likes it!

    2005 Volvo V50 - 2.4i A FWD

Pros: Best lloking wagon out there.

Cons: Not as sporty as advertised.

Advice: IF you can afford the T5 do it. If you are tall look elsewhere

We have 6000 Km on our 2005 2.4i 5speed. Sporty might be too strong a word but it has a premium euro feel at thousands less than BMW or Audi. Excellent safty features, relaxed quite and fule efficient long distance car for a small wagon. Volvo seats and good mileage mean 600 KM stints are easy. Cornering with the sport package is confident but not the kind of thing that begs for a race track. the 2.4 l 5 has a flat power band but can be uninspired if you end up a gear too high. Don't test drive the t5 unless you have no intention of geting a 2.4 you'll always bewanting the t5.

    2004 Volvo XC70 - Base

    Pros: appearance

Cons: plastic wood in interior - blue mouldings exterior

    Advice: Drive it!!

I have owned car for 10 months and have put 31000 miles on vehicle. Am happy with fuel economy (27.2 avg) and excellent dealer. Bought vehicle due to dealer's reputation!!!!! Was unhappy that ball joints needed replacement @ 26000 miles. Hope that replacements last longer. Has original tires (Pirelli Scorpions)

    2005 Volvo V50 - M AWD

Pros: Hidden storage behind rear seats!

Cons: Great, echoing space behind front console -- tres avant-garde, non?

Advice: Don't drive unless you're ready to buy, or suffer from Mad Car Lust for months...

This car is swift, quiet, and sure-footed. It might be smaller inside than the family's XC-70, but is worlds ahead of the former model (I once got wedged in the back seat of one at a dealership -- no sale!). Love the high-tech console. Great seats. Prices are in line with the market (if you want cheap, go drive a Toyota). As others have noted, don't drive it if you don't want to buy. It's that good.
