Touareg Magic
Pros: Luxury and Performance
Cons: High maintenance cost
I have owned my 2004 Touareg (V8) since new and enjoyed every moment of ownership. All aspects of the SUV (power, construction quality, comfort, etc.) are outstanding except the high cost of wear items, e.g. brakes, rotors, etc., but this is a small price to pay for a vehicle that provides so much joy to drive. Although the Touareg weighs in at 5300 lbs., the 310 HP motor will provide plenty of power to propel the SUV from stand-still and roll-on in a manner that almost makes you believe you are in a sports car. By the way, I also own a BMW M5 that I enjoy driving but for all purpose driving I pick the Touareg.Never Again
Pros: The style
Cons: That the car did not make it to 100,000 miles without major repairs.
This car has been the worst car I have ever purchased. I have purchased 16 new cars from BMW to Jeeps. I have had close to 8 thousand dollars in repairs over the past 6 yrs with this car, from drive shaft, ele issues to tranmission and 4 CD players. I will never buy another VW.Pros: Interior and Air Suspension
Cons: No standard GPS
Advice: BUY IT!! and LOVE IT!!
This is an excellent SUV plus it's a 100% German. You can't say no to a german car and it's comfortable, great looking especially with those Xenon Lights and the air suspension is awesome great off roader and great during terrible weather I recommended BUY IT and LOVE IT!!Pros: Performance
Cons: Electronics
Advice: Do not buy this car unless you can confirm electronic issues have been worked out.
I have a 2004 Touareg (ignore title)The V-8 engine provides 310hp, plenty to get the Touareg moving quickly. Very smooth on the road and comfortable too. The air suspension can be adjusted for a firm, sporty ride or a softer, more luxurious ride. It really is a comfortable and fun to drive car. That's why it is too bad VW didn't work harder on the quality control. I have had numerous electronic problems, notably a cruise control that did not work the day of delivery (a bad omen, I guess), CD got stuck in the CD player, just recently installed third battery in two years, tires are too soft for the weight of the vehicle and wore out by 21,000 miles, xenon headlights had problems autoleveling, compass light goes on and off periodically, seat memory does not always work, etc, etc. I can't wait to get a new car.Pros: Overall comfort and predictability
Cons: The steering wheel shakes a little bit on high speeds
Advice: Get it if you enjoy driving. You won't understand this car if you expect to have a family slow-motion SUV to go to Home Depot. The way it drives is really different from American cars.
I love this car. I do not drive on rural roads full of snow, but I like how the car behaves during poor weather conditions. It is glued to the road, you feel really comfortable driving it because you understand what it's going to do next, how it's going to react when you turn the wheel or press gas pedal. No surprises. And it’s pretty responsive and speedy two when you kick it. Note that you get a real SUV that is not afraid of two feet of snow, and it’s unbelievably comfortable – as if you are driving a luxury sedan.Pros: V8 engine
Cons: service and maintenance
Advice: Do Not even Think about buying this vehicle
Worst vehicle ever made 1.poor tire tread life, 15,000 miles, 2. Tire pressure readings constantly signals flat tire 3. worst service of any manufacturer 4. 4WD failed at 20,650 miles and never been offroad 5. A/C whistles cant fix 6. EPA gas mileage is high as we get 12-14 mpg 7. very expensive oil and filter changes 8. VW technicians do not know how to fix 1/3 of problems on this car 9. VW will take you to rental car store while the Toureg you paid for is in shop. WOW!Pros: sound system
Cons: poor
Advice: don't buy it. the station wagon with 4w drive is just as roomy and better!
Too many things that one does not really need e.g., no real need for off road technology when it is used mainly for city and recreational use. The computer is very confusing. Front window fogs up when air conditioner os on. Air bag malfunction lights up and no one can find the reason for it. Visibility for back up is poor and read side windows is poor. The large side mirrors also afects vision. Overhead rack locking system is very inconvenient and difficult to open.
