Pros: Lightning quick acceleration and luxury car ride quality
Cons: There is absolutely not one thing wrong with this truck...even gas mileage is decent for a full size
Advice: No advice...just drive the vehicle...you won't regret it
What else can one say about this truck other than it is the epitome and absolute paradigm of what a full size truck should be? I purchased a stock 2006 Toyota Tundra SR5 Access Cab with the optional i-Force 4.7L V8 engine (with VVT-i). Right off the lot, this truck makes 271 HP at 5400 RPM and a sturdy 313 ft./lbs. of torque at a relatively modest 3400 RPM. A month after the initial purchase, I installed an AIRAID Cold Air Intake system to replace the stock airbox as well as a Borla Dual Exit Catback Exhaust system (made from aircraft grade T-304 stainless steel). My horsepower jumped from 271 up to about 310 and torque improved to a mind boggling 350 ft./lbs. An already superior truck has become clearly better. Aside from the neck-snapping power boost, this truck has the ride manners of a Mercedes Benz E500 Sport Sedan (buttery smooth, in other words). A pickup that rides like a luxury car? Yes, indeed. Toyota continues to provide the benchmark for quality and performance in a full size truck in its Tundra line-up. The extensive retrofit planned for the 2007 model year will only make this truck far better than it already is.Pros: TRD off road package
Cons: Nothing
Advice: Try it. I have never got so maney complaments.
It handles like a truck should. I love the handling and the sporty looks of the stepside. I owned a lot of trucks GM dodges and nothing can beat this truck.its realy comfortable on long haules. THIS TRUCK ROCKS!!!!Pros: Smooth ride.
Cons: I like everything about this truck.
Advice: There are trucks with more power
This truck is very comfortable to ride in. It has plenty of room in the back seat for full size adults. I owned a Tacoma before the Tundra, and I love both of them. I've never had any mechanical problems with either one. My Tacoma was a 1999, which I owned for 5 years. I don't think I will ever own another truck, besides a Toyota. You will always hear stories about how someone's 1 year old Ford has transmission troubles, but you will not have any complaints about Toyota. I highly recommend this truck.Pros: Quiet
Cons: No outside temp reading or compass
Advice: Negotiate... they want you to have this vehicle!
Responsive, quiet and comfortable! Need I say more? This vehicle lives up to the Toyota name. Since I always lease my vehicles, I could not pass up the opportunity presented. Based on the giveaway lease price, guess Toyota is really wanting to be the leader if V8 trucks!Pros: Engine & reliability
Cons: Seat
Advice: If you don't have heavier duty needs, this is by far the best choice
Truck is comfortable to drive, engine & transmission are responsive. TRD Off-road package improves on-road handling. Brakes are better than most. Gas mileage (V-8) is a bit disappointing, but probably on the high side of typical for trucks.Pros: handling, power, plenty of room
Cons: turning radius - don't try for a tight space between two cars at Walmart! It ain't gonna happen
Advice: Make sure you don't mind the fuel bill - this is not for economy minded people
I'm very satisifed with the room, comfort, and ride of the Tundra double cab. I was very torn between the Titan and Tundra, but the Tundra was a low mile trade that came with many accessaries I would have paid dearly for to have installed on the Titan. Overall this is the nicest truck I have ever owned (and I thought a lot of my dear old Dakota!) The back seat was well designed for adults, and is very comfortable & roomy. The back doors are full size, unlike some of the other trucks. The TRD Off Road suspension really helps the handling of this truck. I'm not a speed demon, but I like to lean into a curve with confidence. The V8 is SO quiet, but it can SO come alive! This truck is a pleasure to drive!Pros: 6 speed manual transmission
Cons: Gas mileage for the 6-spd man. V-6 is about the same as the V-8 Auto
Advice: Great Truck, watch for the best price
Previously drove a 1994 Ford Probe. Feels awesome to be so high off the ground. Comfortable ride (drove 1100 miles from Houston to Phoenix) without complaint. Down shifting into 1st while rolling when the light turns green isn't as smooth as in other manual transmission vehicles. Other than that, I can't find anything wrong, purchased this truck with no regrets.
