Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Not going to win a lot of style points but for practicality in an era of $4 a gallon gasoline it's hard to beat. The car is actually pretty roomy for both passengers and cargo given it's MPG. The quality is great - I've never had a problem with it. And with it's hybrid electric/gas engine it has surprisingly nice pickup.
An Excellent Vehicle
Pros: MPG, interior size is excellent relative to exterior dimensions.
Cons: Needing a front wheel bearing at 34k miles.
The vehicle is comfortable and reliable. It's great on long trips. Blizzak tires in the winter cut down on fuel economy by 2 or 3 mpg, something I anticipated. Ethanol in gasoline cuts down mileage perhaps 6 to 10 percent, something that affects every driver (meaning that we are all subsidizing the ethanol industry with reduced mileage).LOVE IT and 50mpg on trips .. surprising power
great gas saver
Pros: gas milage
Cons: variation of milage
91000 & no problems except for cracked windshield-can't blame the car;average from 47-51,depending on weatherAn excellent hybrid value
Pros: economy
The car is stable in virtually all driving conditions. It is comfortable over-the-road on trips, and quite roomy for four adults. Heating and cooling are excellent.Update on October 2009 review
Pros: Fun to drive, plenty room and good mpg!
Cons: Rough ride, poor sound proofing and dropping mileage.
We now have owned our 2010 Prius for over one year. We have almost 25,000 miles on the car. Still like it a lot, but for some reason our mileage has dropped considerably over the past year - we're lucky to get an average of 36 mpg now. Haven't change driving habits or gas - will have dealership give it a good going over at the oil change coming up. With the price of gas, we still feel we've made a good decision in buying the vehicle.Dangerous on highway
Pros: Gas mileage
Cons: The car (performance, comfort, material quality)
My Prius returns very good gas mileage but at a price. It is too slow to safely merge with freeway traffic. I can't pass anyone and I feel any accident may be my last (at speed). I will not buy another. The brakes are only fair and the car does not inspire confidence in spirited driving. Lastly, for what I paid I would expect a higher quality of materials in the interior.
