Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Sporty appearance
Cons: cargo space and lack of cruise control
Advice: Buy it for fun, not to be practical
The car is an absolute blast to drive. Great fun at an affordable price! However, if anyone knows where I can get an aftermarket cruise control installed, please let me know.Pros: Mid-engine handling.
Cons: Dealing with dealership untruths.
Advice: Find somebody other than Toyota dealership to service it.
Loved everything about the car except the insulting buying experience. True sportscar feel with surprisingly ample 1.8-liter power. Great fun to drive, so long as you don't pack anything larger than a wallet.Pros: Top down on country roads with my 3 year old daughter in the front seat
Cons: It is hard to find fault with this car, but if I have to say anything, unable to drive in snow on stock tires due to poor handling, need special tires
Advice: Don't buy this as a primary car, you will regret it.
Excellent 2nd car, fun to drive and cheap (local mechanic can change the oil and do regular maintaince as compared to other exotic cars which you have to take to a dealer $$$$$) This is the only car which I have fallen in love with.Pros: The whole package
Cons: No cargo space
Advice: Go for it, you won't be disapponited!
and now a word from/for the ladies...this car is a head-turner! You'll get a lot of attention with this Spyder! I owned a 1987 MR2 and thought that was fun. No comparison to this new Spyder! It looks, feels and handles better than the BMW Z4 that I test drove and, it has the Toyota name on it. A great value, a great car.Pros: perfomance
Cons: getting in and out
Advice: get at least 2K off list price.
I simply cannot get the smile off my face when I drive this little car. It turns the highway into an absolute playground. I have owned a SLK 320 and believe it or not I find this car much better value, more fun to drive. Highly recommended for what it is meant to be....a second car for leisure driving and kicking up the fun level of driving to a whole new level. Enjoy.Pros: The ease of operating the 6-speed sequential transmission
Cons: Storage space constraints
Advice: If you can find one in the color you want
OK...here's the word from a (slightly) senior who's ever-increasingly desirous of staying young. BUY THIS CAR! I've only had my Spyder for a few days and I've already shed several years. The look, the feel, the responsiveness, the ease of operation, all are giving me exactly what I was looking for in a sportscar. The years I've waited to be in this position have been worth the investment. Everything considered (to include the price), I made an outstanding decision with this purchase.Pros: handling
Cons: trunk space limited
Advice: Just drive it
The sequential transmission sold me. I have bad knees and a clutch took the fun out of the sports car feeling for me. Now I get the control back of shifting even more accuratly. Very nice!!! What a well balanced automobile, too. The car is a Toyota that speaks clearly. It is very tight and a real pleasure to drive, top up or down.
