Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
I took possession of my car on 30 AUG, and have over 2,000 miles on it. It has a smooth ride, responds well and is very comfortable. Overall, I am getting 22.8 MPG. I like the adaptive cruise control, but the keep in the lane assist takes a little getting used to. The stereo system is great and has a single CD player. The front and rear cameras add to safety and come in handy in tight spaces. The middle seats have plenty of room, but the rear seat is a bit too crowed for adults.
Overall a great car. It's a little light on horsepower compared to the Outback, but less expensive and just as capable, if not more so, in the "outback" (i.e off-road). Looks good also, I recommend it highly.
It's a great car ever
This car has been a nightmare almost since its purchase date. The problem is all rooted in the new transmission system - the CVT. It constantly feels like it is going to stall or hesitate. This is one of the new features of the completely overhauled 2014 Forester. Subaru has a real problem on its hands with this vehicle. Subaru dealership unable to resolve in spite of five visits to date to repair it. WE ARE TOTALLY DISSATISFIED WITH THIS VEHICLE AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!!!!
To new to really give a good answer. So far we really like.
Did my research, waited for the '14 model, and bought it a month after its debut. It hasn't disappointed me since. Spacious inside w/ a large entrance fitted well for both my 80+ yrs old parents. With back seats down, can throw 2 bikes inside. Everything work well, supportive power driver seat w/ nice panaromic moonroof. Small display, but get used to it. Glad I waited for '14 vs '13 model. Mileage was surprising good w/ the new CVT trans. Love it!
This is our first Subaru and so far we’re quite impressed. We also had the snow and ice to prove we made the correct selection. Prior to purchasing we did our due diligence and compared the Forester to others in this field, Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, Ford, GMC, Chevy etc. Living in the Midwest and traveling to Minnesota for work required a reliable AWD or 4WD vehicle and the AWD Forester has the best AWD system to handle adverse weather. The adjustable seats with lumbar are quite comfortable
