Pros: LOOKS AND TURN RADIUS
Cons: SEE ABOVE
Advice: GREAT VALUE FOR THE MONEYRON.....BIG BEAR LAKE,(MOUNTAINS), CAL. LOVE THIS CAR. I WAS WEARY OF LOW POWER REPORTS. NOT TRUE AFTER 4K MILES BREAK IN. NICE INTERIOR, BUT NEEDS UPPER HAND GRIP ON PASSENGER SIDE. HAND BRAKE NOT PLACED WELL. SEATING POSITION SCRACHES MY WATCH WHEN CHANGING POWER SEAT SWITCH
Pros: The Plasmaglow dashboard
Cons: finding comment's from fools who never drove one.
Advice: Don't listen to those fools who never drove an Aztec before. Get the 17 inch alloys.I set out to buy myself the ugliest car on the planet thinking that robbers won't bother touching anything so ugly. When I saw the Aztec at Carmax Henderson, that stupid impression when out the window. This thing is PREEEETTTY! Tight and cool, its somewhere between the new batmobile and an armored personnel carrier. Amazingly, its always the women who tell you how cool it is. I got the 2004 Aztec Rally. This crossover rocks. Its got a red plasmaglow dashboard by Johnson Controls of NASA. You'll know what I mean when you drive it at night. Holy batmobile. Dusk-sensing automatic headlights...totally idiot proof. It even turns itself off when you leave the car. Doors lock automatically. FWD with Traction Control...sweet acceleration baby. Front and side airbags...standard. How many cars can claim a 4-star rollover safety rating? Aztec was the first. Did I mention a 10 speaker Pioneer premium sound system w/ steering wheel and rear cargo area controls. Performance? It has a wickedly small turning radius. Accelerates nicely and robustly while still getting decent gas mileage. Ride is silky smooth, it shields you from most road bumps and wind noise. You have to turn off the sound system at times to check if the car is running. Its that quiet. Kudos to the engineers. They weren't kidding when they said they build excitement. Looking at the 2004 model, I don't see why people are calling it butt-ugly. Well most of those comments came from those who have never driven one, much less own a Pontiac. I have 1990 Grand Am LE and its still running smoothly. This Aztec is light years ahead of anything when it was introduced. My advice is to get bigger tires if you got the 15 & 16 inch ones. It does look cool with 17 inch alloys. Oh, and that cargo space for 4 X 8 foot plywood slabs...they weren't kidding. Wild options you won't find in more expensive but boring look-alike SUV's......try the Eyecue Heads Up Dipslay or the Tent & Air Mattress package. Believe me, once you've driven an Aztec, everything else driving around you is blah. Aztecs have a strong cult following here in Las Vegas where the wild things roam. In a city where seeing Porsche's, RR Phantoms and Bentley's are almost a common thing, I'm surprised that people here have nice words for the Aztec. This crossover is BEAUTIFUL. Don't listen to those who never owned one.
Pros: Adjustable Rear seats
Cons: The antenna is mounted on the roof making it impossible to load plywood among other things.
Advice: TAKE IT FOR A TEST DRIVE. YOU WILL LOVE IT!I have to say that I love this vehicle. I have previously owned a Mazda Tribute and a Mercury Mountaineer and this is by far the most fun to drive. Personally I think it's the best looking crossover out there. Sure there are faster but none that look as sporty as the Torrent. The suspension is tight, the accelleration is more than adequate and it drives like a car with the bonus of all that room. For the money I would go for the Torrent, I dare you to find a more sporty CUV out there.
Cons: Not reliable.
Advice: Avoid this vehicle. It is not reliable.I started having transmission problems 1 week after buying the vehicle. I have taken it to the dealer 5 times for the same problem. It is currently being worked on for the third time for the same problem.
Pros: the seats
Cons: only 1 key opening for the door..the drivers side
Advice: don't waste your moneyi have had to have the transmission replaced, brakes and rotary replaced and other repairs for a 2005 vehicle...so the driving experience has not been good for me.
Pros: I love the radio controls on the steering wheel and the way the interior lights all light up red at night, looks awesome!
Cons: My only complaint is that the luggage rack crossbars can easily be taken completely off by anyone who walks by
Advice: Take one for a test drive and you will fall in love with its comfortabilityFun to drive, great looking SUV. There is an awesome amount of passenger room in this vehicle and the driver seat adjustments make it very comfortable to drive. I have the Metallic Blue Streak and it draws a lot of attention due to the fact that in certain lights it looks like a dark purple. The tinted windows, chrome fog lights, split grill and luggage rack really help give the Torrent the sporty look that makes peoples heads turn. I have really enjoyed sitting near the window in restaraunts and watching people stop and look it over. The cargo shelf is a great feature and can be configured in many different ways. I also like the fact that the back seat will move forward 8 inches to make more cargo space. My friends all love the fact that the back seats recline. Another great feature about the seating is the 60/40 split rear seat for different cargo configurations and the ease in which the seats can be reclined or folded down. No need to reach under the seat and fumble with a lever, there is an easy to reach, quick release lever on the top of the seats. I've owned other SUV's and none of the back seats have ever been this easy to work with. People seem to worry about suspension and how it rides. I would have to admit that you can feel bumps in the road while driving the Torrent, but since you are not driving a luxury car I don't see why that's a big deal. The suspension is better than most trucks and SUV's and is probably comparable to the average car. Again, it's not a luxury car with self-leveling shocks, so of course you are going to feel some movement. It drives great, plenty of power with it's v6. Handles like a car and not a jerky SUV. The dashboard is low and easy to see over. All of the driver's controls are easy to reach and use. I absolutely love driving this thing. It's a lot of fun. I do hate having to wash the bugs off of the grill though. But I have to because it's such a great looking ride that I cannot let it be dirty. I highly recommend the Torrent to anyone who needs some extra room but does not want to look like a soccer mom. Or even to soccer mom's who want to look cool.
Pros: the thought of getting rid of it
Cons: actually making the payment
Advice: well i am biased but i would aviodWe bought a torrent and a solstice a few months ago so far I traded the solstice and hate the torrent i think the fit and finish is horrible and the tiny rims? I just think its cheap and plasticy
