Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Driving it.
Cons: Pontiac has gone out of business
Advice: Buy it, drive it like there is no tomorrow.
Of all the cars I have owned in my lifetime, the Pontiac G8 is my favorite. It is very fun to drive, responsive, safe, and gets a lot of looks. BMW owners are jealous and stop at random locations to ask me about my car.Pros: The 6.0L V8!
Cons: None - it's all good
Advice: It's the last Pontiac muscle car - buy one if you can find it!
This is a big car with lots of interior space and a large trunk. You can put 4 people and their luggage for a week's stay in this can and still have room left. It's performance specs are almost identical to a BMW 550, and the ride is great - looks like BMW no longer has a lock on the ride/handling suspension tradeoff! There is no way a 2 ton car should handle and accelerate/stop as well as this car does.(0-60 in just 5.2 seconds) Additionally, it's a very quiet car when traveling on the interstate - 70 mph sounds just like 90 mph. The Blaupunkt stereo (11 speakers/240 watts) with XM sounds great and is easy to operate. This is the best car Pontiac has ever built. Too bad this is the last year for this car and Pontiac, too.Pros: 11 speaker stereo.. Remote start..
Cons: it only came in automatic tranmission.
Advice: if you like a car that delivers high performance and also has that high end look, then this is the car for you.
The G8 GT handles better then my previous car. I have owned high performance cars for the last 20 yrs. This car rides very smooth and handles extremely well. I am very impressed with the look and performance and the interior which is one of the nicest that i have ever seen in a pontiac.Pros: The suspension: It is the most refined Pontiac has ever produced.
Cons: The head liner panel: A little loose fitting.
Advice: If you are looking for a sport sedan you do not have to look any further then the G8.
After taking possesion of the car two weeks ago I have come to appreciate it more each day.I had considered a BMW 3 series and Mercedes 'C' Class. The handling, performance and power is far superior and the price just seals the deal. The interior is elegant and the sound system is just plain fun with the 11 speaker blaupunkt system. If you test drive this car with ether the V6 or V8 power plants you will find quality standards will not fail you.Pros: That I arrive at my appointments early, this car is very fast!
Cons: Fuel consumption
Advice: You get a lot of bang for your buck
This car is mean looking and the GT package includes formidable appointments. The 6.0 litre engine roars and the six speed transmission provides precise shifting. At 100mph the G8 GT has plenty in reserve and takes off like a rocket, hitting 130mph just as the automatic transimsission reaches 6th gear. This vehicle embodies true muscle car values and will blow the doors off just about any similarly priced vehicle.
