Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Cons: It doesn't get as good of gass milage as they said it would when I bought it. About 30-31 on highway and as low as 24-26 in city.
Advice: Get the CVTI have the 2007 Versa, bought it 2 years ago. Not a problem yet with it. I still absoluely adore it. It is very roomy, my very tall brother has no trouble getting comfortable in it. The trunk is also very roomie. Everyone is suprised when they get in it the first time. The car itself is very peppy and handles well. I have the CVT, which I love especially on hilly roads. The cruise control has a very natural feel as well. I got the car fully loaded so it was a bit more than the base prive, but I still feel it such a great value. When looking for a car I looked at many used cars, and most were about as much as the Versa, but used and not nearly as nice. I love this car. GM and Ford could learn a lot from Nissan.
Pros: ABS brakes
Cons: Over rated gas milage, oversurging of engine
Advice: Some may like the SL better. (Alloy wheels, 6 disk CD, CVT drivetrain)The overall milage at 27.5-28 mpg is a disappointment. The interior is quiet and handling is good. At 6' 4' the interior room is excellent for this class of car. There was a stubborn 'Service Engine Soon' issue that was caused, according to dealer, by a loose gas cap. After the light came on the cap was not loose. I've heard of this senario on other cars so I suspected this from the begining. The light stayed on for a week of driving and never went out until dealer cleared the fault memory. It has stayed out now for 10 days. Other than that I like the car overall.
Cons: Pick up
Advice: Look into another car,Less than a week after purchasing my Versa we had to bring it back to the dealer because the CD player stopped working. While there we told them the car would start funny in the mornings. We then learned the car had a bad fuel pump and many other Nissans were having the same problem. The dealership estimated that it would take a month before we got a fuel pump because they were on backorder. We still haven't received reimbursement for recent college graduate. The dealership said we would get a check from Nissan corp but when we called them about it we were told we should have gotten it from the dealership.
Advice: Go for itvery good car for city and long drives, very comfortable and safe.
Pros: Very comfortable, and fun to drive. Lots of room front, back, and hatch. Nice French style
Cons: Eats gas like crazy, especially considering it's meant to be GREAT on gas.
Advice: Remember this is almost not a subcompact. Bigger engine, and weight, uses more gasI have had my versa for about a week. I have to say I'm very impressed. I had to wait over a month to get the model in the colour (black) I wanted. Regardless, it was only suposed to be 4 days, and it took 6 weeks. Anyway during that wait I started to worry if I really wanted the car. Yes I had test driven it, but time can make you question everything. Plus, I hate test drives. they are not comfortable. You have the sales person talking and distracting you, and you can't really drive and feel the car. Well, the wait was worth it. I love this car. For a small car it has tons of room, smooth drive, and quite good pick-up. This is due to the large engine - for it's class. The downside is, that my mileage is nowhere near the estimated 750 kilometers per fill-up. (metric). In fact all said and done it will probablly be around 450 kilometers per fill-up. That is not what I expected! I have driven standard my whole life, so I know it's not my driving. This car likes to suck up gas big time. I guess the only way to come close to the estimate is to drive very slow, and avoid any kind of pick-up. Forget that, why enjoy a car that can move well, and not move it. Time will tell. I am still learing about what it needs, and we will see. I do love the car, and for the money, and the style (which I love - except a little tall for the width ). Good pick-up, tons of room, and standard safety features that can't be beat. I do not like the toy look of the competition, This car does not have that 'samll look' at all. Also, it feels like a much more expensive car the it is.
Pros: The amount of room inside
Cons: Nothing so far
Advice: Test drive other makes and compare. Do your homework before buying.I purchased the hatchback 1.8 S as I did not want the extra toys featured on the SL model. What I did want was the electric sunroof so paid extra and had one installed by the dealer. The car is great to drive and is very solid. I was impressed with how quiet it is on the highway and the amount of room inside. The steering is tight and turns on a dime. This is my first Nissan and assuming the vehicle continues to perform as well as it has, will not be the last. We did look at the Yaris but the motor was too noisy at highway speeds. The Fit and Rio were just too small.
Pros: interior comfort and cute interior designs.
Cons: bad performance
Advice: do a test drive on the highway first.I recently purchased a nissan versa in 01-15-07. Sadely, the performance of this car, is not as good as it looks. This car raves above 3000 RPM at about 60 MPH and stays at 3000 RPM and goes above 3000 RPM AFTER 65 MPH!!!THAT,IS BAD FOR THE ENGINE!.The engine start to be very noisy starting above 45 MPH.I am very dissapointed. I wonder what Nissan was thinking about when they made this car with great looks but such poor performance. I am getting rid of this car now !!and contacted BBB & Nissan North American, because based on the performance, this car is assumed to be a Lemon like i never had before. If you intend to buy a versa,OR ANY CAR, please, first test drive the car on the highway, than decide, or you will be sorry. Deal is, I only tested this car in the city. The sales man never took me with it on the highway and what a mistake!
