Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Horsepower combined with drop-dead good looks
Cons: The one-touch electric windows are difficult to regulate. Heated seat buttons are near my elbows on the console and easy to accidentally press.
Advice: Get a price near invoice, not msrpThis is the most exciting car I have ever owned. Love the styling, handling, and especially the horsepower. This car can be a speeding ticket magnet if you're not careful. The convertible top function is fast and efficient. I bought the top-of-the line 'Touring' model with leather seats and various other options. Color is Redline but I also considered black and silver. I've heard that a yellow one will be out in 2005. The ride is a bit harsh because it is a sports car, but I got used to it after 1,000 miles. If you want a cushy ride get a Buick.
Pros: styling and performance
Cons: the brake dust on the rims
Advice: dont wait for a mid life crisis....just buy it....you will fall in love...promisehandles like a dream. Rides like a true sports car: stiff. May seem strange to first time drivers, but once u get used to it....its driving bliss.
Pros: The power and the 'fun factor'
Cons: The seats are a little narrow for anyone with a broader 'beam' & a few small quality problems.
Advice: Compare it to the other vehicles in it's class--it's new, it's fun, and it's at least $5000 lessThis is my mid life crisis car--actually, it's my second mid life crisis but I couldn't afford the first one. I've owned many cars (at 58 yrs of age) and have never had so many people comment on it in a positive way. I've had old ladies stop me in parking lots, young men who have said, and I quote, 'Phat ride, hog'. I later found out it was a compliment. I've had two people buy them after talking with me. I've had men on the freeway signal to roll down my window to ask about it (at 60 mph). I've been stopped at a traffic light and have ended up conversing with pedestrians about it. And, I can say, that after 6 months, it has been the most enjoyable car I've ever owned. My wife now fights me for it. It's powerful, more quiet than the coupe because of the barrier between the cabin, and the back wheels, gets good mileage unless I want to hear the exhaust, or show the kid in the hopped up Civic what a car can do. It is a blast to drive and to be seen in.
Pros: Unique Styling and the Driving Pleasure
Cons: Front end subject to chipping from road debris
Advice: Try the automatic and make sure you only want 2 seats!I can't say enough about how good it 'feels' to drive this car. It is very comfortable for me on long trips(2 hrs+), plenty of leg room too. I was looking for more of a family sports car with a back seat and I actually went to purchase an older model 'Z' with a back seat but after looking at the new 'Z' on the show room floor, and then when I got to drive one, I had to buy it. I didn't need to buy it and didn't really want to buy it, I had to buy it! This car is awesome. I have the automatic select shift and enjoy it as much or more than I would a 6sp manual shift. I get to choose if I want to shift or not and no clutch nesessary. The Bose radio is okay for me but not what I would consider great by any means. I have a Bose in my Seville and in my I30 that doesn't impress me either. My car is white and I am really happy with the color. Road debris can chip the front end paint fairly easy though. The rear view mirror is hard to use and takes getting used to, but if you know how to use the side view mirrors properly all is well. The console is too short for my liking but a little pillow does the job for me. Cig lighter acc plug is located awkwardly behind the console between the seats. Gas lid is flimsy. My driver's seat seems to have some loose feeling to it while cornering hard but not when I get out of the car and check it. Must be the padding or springs in the seat itself. I have owned this car for a year now and only have 4750 miles on it. I have driven it mostly on weekends that I travel more than 400 miles and it is very comfortable to me to be so stiff but that is something I like about it because it 'feels' like a true sports car and handles great. I average 25-27mpg but have seen 29-31mpg on the road driving at more moderate speeds! It is a great performance sports car if you like the styling and feel as much as I do. I have no regrets about the car purchase.
Pros: Operation of soft top
Cons: Needs 8 way power seats
Advice: BUY ITHandles curves better than James Bond. Brakes are outstanding. Wind noise with top down is minimal. Very easy to carry on a conversation. Not a super fast car but has enough power to make the car enjoyable to drive.
Pros: the exterior styling - ease of operating the top
Cons: lack of lumbar support in the seats - not enough colors to choose from
Advice: If you live in an area where it snows you will definetely need another car besides the ZThe 350Z roadster handles and accelerates beautifully,it has plenty of low end torque and is fun to drive in both the auto and manumatic mode.
Pros: The dashboard design and instructment panel arrangement
Cons: Limited cargo space
Advice: Get you oneThe performance is great, the body styling is second to none and the car is a joy to drive. The car looks much more expensive than it is and people can't believe how much bang you get for the bucks. It is a car for driving, speed and more driving. The only negatives with my 350Z are very limited cargo space, side and rearview mirror vantage points to spot the highway patrol and the location of driver cup holder. But who needs a stinking cupholder when you are driving a 350Z and loving every minute.
