    1999 Mercury Mountaineer

its actually a 1998 mercury mountioneer

    Pros: the seat is comfortable

Cons: how easy everything messes up

my husband insisted on getting this vehicle. all in all it has been a great vehicle. it just gets really bad gas mileage. its a v8 so of course it is suppose to, but i am not use to it. the airconditioner is all messed up. it turns on when i turn the vent on. its on no matter what i have turned on. if i turn it to the ac part itself, it makes a aweful noise and smell. the wiring is all messed up on the dash. has been from day one. the radio lights dont light up. the interior light switch is messed up. it cost way too much to fix any of these things. its very compact. not much room at all. the rear wiper want stay on. lost two so far. i just dont use it any more. there are so many things wrong with it. it has a great engine though. the transmission seems to be good. its everything else that isnt good.

    2006 Mercury Mountaineer

Great vehicle for the traveling family

    Pros: The powerful V8 Engine

    Cons: The gas consumption

We love our 2006 Mercury Mountaineer, V8, 4.6 L Luxury Package SUV. It is durable classy (with the interior leather and chrome accents). We love going on long trips regardless if it is to the mountains or to the beach, Our Mountaineer allows us to haul whatever we may need for the trip and the kids as well. The downside is the Gas consumption, 15 City and 20 Highway MPG. the Upside you get a powerful V8 engine that allows you to climb hills and mountains with no hesitation. The Mountaineer is rugged and if you purchase AWD/ 4 WD Package you can practically go anywhere with your family. Great product Ford Motor Company! Can't wait for the new edition due out next year.

    2007 Mercury Mountaineer - Base V6 (310A) AWD

    Pros: size

    Cons: gas mileage/transmision

    Advice: don't

I, like many of the others have also had transmission problems. The comfort and the room are ok. The style is above par. However, when you still owe for your vehicle you don't really want to put 1,000 dollars into fixing the transmission. I don't know about anyone else but I will never buy a Ford/Mercury product again.

    2008 Mercury Mariner - Premier (330A) 4x4

    Pros: heated seats!

    Cons: access to the jack

Advice: drive a honda first..and then try the Mariner Premier..same price, no comparison

After two years in the Escape Hybrid 2WD (not recommended) I was looking for something that was quieter, more comfortable, large enough to transport an 85 pound dog, a kayak or skiis..and provided the safety of full air bag and electronic stability control. The price point on the upgraded Premier Mariner was far more competetive with the equipment than any of the others in this class. It drives and handles extremely well, with a smooth ride, good acceleration, excellent trim and finish, and it is QUIET inside! I am not one to extol the virtues of any car I buy..and all of them have had their weaknesses. However, I think this Mariner is nearly as perfect a design of any SUV in the price range. Oh, and the back-up sensor system ( my first) is absolutely great for parking and backing movements!
