Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: TURBO...Speed and Looks. Who could ask for anything more.
Cons: If had to pick...Premium Fuel
Advice: Bring CD's and get the IPOD connectorNeedless to say....POWER. Never before have I driven a 4 cyl. with the same power of my Cadillac Northstar. How does the saying go. Get in Sit down and HOLD on. LEAD FOOTS will love this car. Also the Cruise Control is there for a reason. Helps with the local speed patrolers. Went with the cloth interior and happy with that choice. Sun roof would be nice. Black Cherry color very nice.
Advice: Respect the horsepowerI realize my decision is bias but I have to say something. The Mazda speed 6 engine is unreal. I have test driven many small vehicles but the speed 6 is off the chart for maneuverability, agility, quality and the SPEED WHHOAA. When you drive this vehicle have your driver’s license and proof of insurance on your lap.
Pros: The pull in all gears
Cons: Hard to clean Rims
Advice: Test Drive and buyI am 22 years old i baught a 05 mazda 6s in october 05 and was very impressed with the speed and handling on the 27th of December i Test drove the speed6 and that was the end of the 05. I love the speed6 the foor doors helps me with insurnce and it drives like a two door sports car.Iam 6 feet tall and when im driving theres still lots of room for my passengers in the rear.I Test drove the audi S4 with the v8 4.2L and could not beleve how slow the car was and the lack of room the speed6 would run ring around it and with almost 20k price differnce.
Pros: THE POWER!!!!
Cons: The fact that you can only put 18' wheels on it
Advice: Try and bargain the dealer to throw in some winter tires (very $$$)I bought a 3,500 mi old Mazdaspeed6 last week. I am very pleased with this vehicle. The power is incredible, the looks are out of this world, the handling is phenomenal! The problem is that the stock tires (Bridgestone Potenza RE050 215/45R18) are already bald on the outside (most likely a camber problem). The sound system is excellent and will beat any top of the line stock system. There is one problem.... the brake calipers are so big that I can't fit anything else but an 18 inch wheel on it.... VERY impractical AND expensive for winter tires. I am, however, satisfied with this vehicle.
Pros: Speed Torque Speed Comfort Looks ,did I mention the speed o and great tires fo the SUMMER!!!
Cons: No power in my wife’s seat no hole for the skies SUMMER TIRES ON a vehicle that ships in the winter???
Advice: TEST DRIVE ITI am 29 and happily married with the need for speed+ comfort, and let me tell you this car is satisfying my need very well. When you put it into 1st gear it will start slow till you get the RPMs into 2500-and that is where the fun (ZOOM-ZOOM) begins. It will push you back into your seat in every gear including the 6th. The think that I like on it the most is when you cruising 75 M/H at 3K RPMs and there is a car that you like to pass. Well auto transmission would change a gear or two, not this boy. It will answer your foot with power even at the last gear. One more think- Loosing BMW’s and Audi’s in the rear view mirror =PRICELESS
Pros: The performance.
Cons: The rim pattern.
Advice: Test drive the other vehicles listed before drivingThis is my second Mazdaspeed vehicle, the first being the 2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege. I had considered several other vehicles before settling on this choice, including the Subaru Legacy GT, the Subaru WRX STi, the Volvo S40 T5 AWD, the Volvo V50 T5 AWD wagon, and the Lexus IS 300 Sport sedan. I am glad that I waited for this car to arrive rather than going with one of the other vehicles tested. It was well worth the wait. The car is stunning in appearance, and defintely draws your attention. However, it is not overly gaudy or without class. It is aggressive, but in a subtle and understated manner. People know that it is not quite your regular Mazda 6. The lines of the car flow together well despite the extra-tall hood needed to clear the top-mounted intercooler. The rear deck-lid spoiler hints to an air of performance, without screaming 'boy-racer' to all who watch the car drive by. The rims are huge at 18', but are modeled somewhat after wheels found on near-luxury marques such as Audis, and BMWs. The performance is just amazing. It is hard to believe that this car is only 4 cylinders, since it drives more like an 8 cylinder vehicle. Turbo lag is almost non-existent and torque is available at nearly any point on the curve. Although the 1st through 3rd gears are geared for better acceleration, the car is a beast on the highway pulling hard in any gear, including 6th. Passing is not a problem at all...any time. Consider the final overdrive and the 6 forward speeds, and it is easy to see why this car cruises easily at 130 kmh with less than 3000 RPM on the tachometer. Stomp the pedal from a standstill and 4 tires spin for a brief moment before rocketing the car forward at a very alarming rate. This is a Mazdaspeed for sure, but much more so than the Mazdaspeed Protege. The quality of the car overall is exceptional. It is every bit as nice, if not more so, than the quality of the other cars previously listed. The interior would easily fit well into a Mercedes or BMW vehicle. While I have less than 500 km on the vehicle to-date, I am liking it more and more with each passing km of travel. When I was presented with the vehicle, the car was described as an 'Audi-killer.' High-performance marques should neally take notice of this vehicle, because if not an 'Audi-killer,' it is certainly a volf in sheeps clothing!
