Pros: Safety rating of vehicle
Cons: All the problems.
Advice: Buyer bewareNothing but trouble. 1. Engine light came on constantly. Had loose pin tension on evap purge solenoid, then the purge control solenoid was replaced. Then after 9 trips to service they finally fixed the problem, was a software issue. 2. Wind noise all around, there was a crack in door panel, and they put in foam backing in all the doors. This was ineffective. 3. Air condition control unit went out on it. 4. When opening sliding doors they dont latch open, the door slides back to closed position. THis problem still isnt resolved.
Cons: brakes, radio is a bit of a reach
Advice: buy the 06'We bought our Sedona 6 months ago. It is great and with all the discounts was a great buy. I however am finding that the '05 wears through brakes and rotors very quickly. The service dept. even said because of the weight of the vechicle (which is why it is so safe) it pushes the brakes to their limits. I was informed larger brakes were placed on the '06 models but what does that do for me every 18-20,000 miles and a set of rotors and brakes later. My other concern is how well will it brake to keep me and my family safe. I know if we wreck it will be fine but I would like to avoid that if possible. No answers from the dealer. Oh it is also rated for towing and has a hitch option, but if you talk to any service personal they will tell you don't, the brakes just can't handle it.
Pros: power rear and side doors; roominess
Cons: radio controls
Advice: put aside your anxieties about reliability; expect poor gas mileageWe were set to buy a 2006 Toyota Sienna LE (limited features) when the salesman made a big mistake. He showed us the loaded XE with all of the features I really wanted but the price was outrageous. On a fluke, we test drove the Kia Sedona. I fell in love with the features at a reasonable cost ($25,700 with all packages including DVD). It is great for our family. We have three kids and I seem to be the designated soccer chauffer. It has room enough for five kids and their sporting equipment. We have only had it for a month so I can't review the reliability, just the features: Disappointments: steering wheel radio controls just volume and mode- it would be nice if they switched between preset stations; Radio not within easy reach; Gas mileage: avg. 16.3 mpg; wireless headphones cut out; center console is awkward; front arm rests aren't comfortable. Favorites: memory driver seats; side mirrors go down when in reverse; power tailgate/side doors that open with remote; storage for everything; 'trunk' space; fold down rear seats; reverse sensors; leather interior; driving pedals adjust. Overall, I am pleased with the van. But we are a 2 decade Toyota/Honda family and I am always worried about the reliability of the Kia. I thought the 10 year warranty would put me at ease, but the Kia reputation is always at the forefront of my mind. I am always expecting something to go wrong. Hopefully, I will be pleasantly surprised! (Sidenote: performance rated lower because of gas mileage)
Pros: 3 row seats
Cons: wind noise and low mpg
Advice: take van on a major road at speed at least 60 and listing for wind noise.Wind noise somewhere in rear distracting. Cannot locate where it is comming from. Gas is not that good. 13 miles in the city. Its a pretty van. Im just going broke driving it. 50 dollars every 2 weeks with just 200 miles a tank full. does not tell you the best way to use the manual trans. to save gas in manual. My guessing is not working considering the mpg im getting
Pros: How high and comfortable it is.
Cons: Taking it in repeatedly for repairs
Advice: Look for improvments in the newer models. Ask lots of ques. Go with the EX if you canWe purchased '03 new off the lot. We really liked it at first. It sits nice and high. Very comfortable ride for all. It could use more room in the back behind the seats. But we have had problems. The altenator went out about a year after purchase & the elec system went a little crazy when it did. It won't hold an alignment. It has blown 3 sets of tires because of it. Kia tells us the alignment is not covered by warrenty, so we paid almost $100 to get it fixed... stil not holding. We have had it aligned 4 times in the 3 years! The a/c switch has had to be replaced 2 times. One back handle broke off... NOT from hard use, our girls are 6 and under! The cup holder had to be replaced, it wouldn't stay clicked in as it is designed to do. Brakes squeal terribly, but Kia says there is nothing wrong with them.
Cons: Gas Mileage
Advice: Be prepared for poor gas mileageDrives alot nicer than the previous generation Sedona. I am getting 14 MPG. The window sticker had 17/25 on it. Hopefully with more engine break in this number will go up. My 2002 Sedona got about 17 MPG, window sticker on that had 15/20MPG.
Pros: Leather seats
Cons: Road noise, all plastic parts (interior) brake easily, AC quit working, RAdio quit working, etc.
Advice: DONT BUY ITIf you are looking for a cheap van, you got it, the Sedona looks good, but has the worst quality! Road noise, all plastic parts (interior) brake easily, AC quit working, RAdio quit working, etc. I have visited the dealership 5 times and I have owned the vehicle for only 11 months....HATE KIA
