    2004 Kia Spectra - LS (M5) Sedan

    Pros: Nothing

    Cons: Everything

Advice: DO NOT BUY A KIA!!

I bought this vehicle with 157 miles on it and the first week the check engine light was on. I took it in and they stated nothing wrong. I have never had so many problems with a new vehicle in my life!! One thing after another and all Kia says is 'There is a 10 year 100,000 mile warrenty for your vehicle'. Oh Sure, Everytime it goes in the shop (which has been plenty) I have to get a rental because Kia does not incude a rental during repairs. The most recent - I took my car in (lets not forget there were 5 other people with the same car in for service too) because when you step on the gas or break there is a loud rattling noise but Kia service says nothing is wrong with the car. I have owned the vehicle one year and I am now purchasing something else, but the not so fun part is that I still owe $10,000 on this car and other dealers will give me $4000.00 what it is worth. I will suck it up only to get this living nightmare out of my life! I would not wish this car on my worst enemy.

    2005 Kia Spectra5 - (M5)

    Pros: 205/50/16s

    Cons: front lip

Advice: Buy it, you will love it.

Great car with a lot more get up and go han I expected. Great suspension and a sporty look. The only thing I don't like is that front lip was very very poorly attached to the car. I have read that quite a few people have had some problems and I have too. I gave it a little scuff on a speedbump going about 5 mph and one side of it came off. BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO SCRAPE IT AT ALL.

    2002 Kia Spectra - LS (M5) Sedan

    Pros: It has four wheels

Cons: ... everything else about this vehicle.

Advice: Save yourself the headache and get *ANYTHING* else. Even a moped would be preferable.

Worst possible choice for a vehicle, EVER. Drove it off the lot at 11,000 miles. Took it in for service to have the wheel bearings replaced (under warranty) at 12,000 or so, again at 42,000 (warranty), and just a few months ago by an independant. Later, found a rattling in the rear when going over bumps. The Kia dealer couldn't find anything wrong with it, but an independant found the rear support to le loose. Made the dealer replace that undr warranty. A few more thousand miles, found the rear break cylinders to be leaking (drums and shoes were GLAZED). They said a little leakage is normal. Um... not when one of the cylinders is actually missing part of the end cap. $600 worth of break work later (at least SOME of which should have been warranty)... And just a few weeks ago, the transmission siezed at 78,000 miles; it's going to cost around $1,400 - $1,800 for this repair. Admittedly, I may be harder on cars than most, but my '97 Mirage had over 173,000 miles on it and not a single major issue. Paid $10k for a car that, in less than three months, had plummeted in KBB value to less than $6. Now? I'd be lucky to get $2,000 for it. Stay. Away. From. This. Company. The dealer will fight you every which way to avoid honoring the warranty (having the oil changed elsewhere will void the warranty on the seal of the oil pan, for example... yes, that was replaced, too), and as for the car itself, I'm sure they're built out of parts from gumball machines.

    2005 Kia Spectra5 - (M5)

Pros: Value vs. price. Safety !! 4wheel disc, ABS, 6 airbags

    Cons: Fuel Mileage

Advice: Don't, Why buy a small car when you get the mpg of a small SUV

Everything about this vehicle is great, EXCEPT the fuel mileage. 21-22 around town and 24 on the freeway. I'm a conservative driver who has driven economy cars for many years now and am very disapointed. Of course the dealership thinks this is the first car I've ever driven and explains that it's all how you drive it and that I don't know how to drive. All of the other features are great if fuel mileage doesn't matter.

    2004 Kia Spectra - LX (M5) Sedan

Pros: The style of the car.

    Cons: Mostly everything.

Advice: DO NOT BUY THIS VECHICLE

When I first took this car for a test drive, I thought it was the one. I took the car home and the first couple of days I noticed my curtain airbags were sticking out. I have the LX model and for some reason, my doors lock automatically( I think Kia put a curse on my car). Now my sensor on the dashboard telling me that my airbags are ON do not work and I called Kia and they stated that they knew of this problem but can not fix my problem no time soon. Kia refuse to fix anything down here in Dallas, so if you see this vechile, PLEASE DO NOT BUY IT!!!!!

    2005 Kia Spectra5 - (M5)

Pros: Smooth ride, not much road noise, and stereo

    Cons: Front Effects

Advice: Get something in writing on the front effects. My wife went through some running water and effects came off.

I truly like the ride of the vehicle and the stereo system. The lines of the vehicle are a lot nicer than the other vehicles I've driven. I bought the automatic and it shifts nicely. I live in the north west and I would definitely would make sure you watch your front effects trim. I only have 1200 miles on the vehicle and the trim has come off. I've contacted KIA and the regional manager won't replace it due to some scuffs on the bottom. I've had more than 20 cars and I'm truly disappointed with the fact that KIA won't replace it. There's obviously something wrong with this piece of equipment. Other vehicle reviews have already given notice to this problem and I believe this should be corrected or taken off all together

    2005 Kia Spectra5 - (M5)

    Pros: A 4 cylinder engine that thinks it's a 6 cylinder!

Cons: Too pricey for the Sunroof and cruise control options.

Advice: When you test drive it, punch it once! Then test drive the others like it, and then you'll know the difference!

I have owned mine for 6 months and have put 13,000 miles on it. This is the best car I have ever owned. I have had absolutely no problems. In fact, I get close to 40 MPG - 7 miles higher than the sticker rating! The sport tuned engine even impresses my truck owning co-workers, and I have definitely made others take another hard look at Kia. It's smooth on road trips, has more than enough pep to deal with tough entrances on accelation lanes, and the crisp handling has saved me from quite a few scary accidents - including a close call from where an 18 wheeler ran me off the road.
