Advice: must buyI bought my Kia from delar in 2005 with 30k on it. so far so good all i did was just change tires, and oil thats all i did. if you are looking for car that has reasonble price with resonable performance i strongly recommed you to get Kia's specally Spectra modle.
Pros: Gas Mileage
Cons: No cruise control
Advice: Buy itHandles nice, do feel more bumps, but other than that steering is tight and positive. Only problem has been the gas cap door, does stick sometimes. Took it to dealer, they fixed, but still does it once in awhile
Pros: Features for the money.
Cons: Ongoing safety issues after almost a year
Advice: Don't buy it if you have passengers you care about.I looked at every product review that I could find online, and read the JD Powers findings and safety ratings before buying my new Specra5 to be an educated buyer. I, like Amber in Phoenix, have the shaking steering wheel at freeway speeds that the dealer hasn't been able to identify or correct in the past ten months (15000 miles). KIA Consumer Affairs led me to believe that my issue is unique - NOT! Please email if you have the same issue. While it's sporty, fun, practical and very comfortable, my passenger side airbag sensors only work at times, and my passengers don't feel safe when they see the lighted warning that their safety devices are turned off. The selling dealer has gone to great lengths to correct the shaking wheel and the airbag issues, but KIA doesn't seem to have the engineering expertise (or concern or honesty?) to resolve design flaws. There has been a Technical Service Bulletin since March 2006 that was supposed to fix the airbag deployment failure. A 10-year warranty isn't worth much if the manufacturer can't figure out how to fix the problems, especially when it comes to steering, brakes or crash protection. My wife refuses to ride with me now because she looks out her side window and sees the big SUV or pickup bumper at face level and isn't sure if her 3 passenger side airbags will even deploy if needed! See NHTSA ODI online for more details on problems. If drivers have family or a regular passenger, I suggest they buy something else. But if you're a loner and don't mind a shaking steering wheel, it's a fun and comfortable little car to drive. Other issues that were corrected have been a paint defect (the was approved by KIA and repaired), a bad speaker in the back (which I opted to replace), and air in the clutch slave cylinder line (which corrected itself after the dealer couldn't find the problem in the first 8900 miles I drove the car).
Pros: power options
Cons: Not enough horsepower
Advice: They still need to get all the bugs out of this new vehicleHad vehicle in for repairs 6 times. Now they are getting me a new one. Lets hope this one doesnt have the reverse driveline clunk like the previous one.
Pros: safety features
Cons: carpet is thin
Advice: NoneI purchased a new 2006 Kia Spectra 5, three months ago, and I am very satisfied with the Spectra 5. I was hesitant to purchase a Kia at first because of Kia's past problems, and poor resale value. After doing research on the Spectra 5, I decided to purchase it, and I am now glad that I did. The Spectra drives great, comes with many standard features that are optional on other vehicles, including power doors and locks, keyless entry, and six standard air bags. Overall, the Spectra 5 is a great buy.
Pros: look of the car
Cons: how the car shakes on the freeway
Advice: don't buy if you want a smooth traveling carCar steering wheel shakes bad from 68 and up, the dealership had car for a total of 19 days. They have replaced tires, wheels, had factor rep test drove my car, and now they are saying this is the way the car drives. When I bought the car they knew about shake and told me it would be fixed under factor warranty, not to worry. They kept the car and tried to fix the shaking problem, but now they are saying that it is just the way the car is designed. The service manager is now stating that they are no longer allowed to make anymore attempts to work on this problem as per the factory rep. They stated that it was only me who has complained about this shaking problem and that I was too sensitive of a driver. They say that all the cars do this, which is why this is as they say, this is the way the car was designed. I would not have bought this car if this was the case. They did get the car to stop shaking for a 24 hour period on 2 different times.
Pros: WOW a 5 year warranty! Talk about backing up you product!
Cons: Driver seat only could use a little more leg room for taller (5' 9') people.
Advice: Don't expect sports car power & you will be pleased.I give this car an A-. A wonderful design. And with a 5 year warranty, you almost can't go wrong! Nice tight steering. Great feel for the road. Reasonable power for 4 cyl., but certainly no sports car. Breaks feel solid. Car looks very sharp with clean lines/curves. Tinted windows really enhance the look. Comfortable, but long drives might be less so for a taller person driving the vehicle. There simply isn't anywhere to fully straighten the right leg when on cruise control. Rear seat leg room seems good, unless the driver seat is back, although pre-teens will be fine. Climate & radio controls are simple and work well. Overall, I really like this vehicle. The warranty was the decisive factor.
