Pros: Lots of power, leg room, GREAT stereo
Cons: Wish that the handles above the passenger windows weren't so loose.
Advice: Check this car out before you buy a Corolla or Civic, better bang for the buck.I have owned three Toyotas, 2 of them, a Corolla. The Elantra GT is a fast, quiet car. This has a lot more leg room than any compact car I have been in. The quality in the Elantra GT is top noch, very clean looking. Super stereo system, way better than I expected. I drive freeway most of the time, I get 33 mpg with this car, which averages 400 or so miles to a tank of gas. I have 12,000 miles on my car already, and it has been just fantastic. A very fun car
Pros: CD player
Advice: This car is a great deal all around! Get a lot of bang for your buck!Smooth handling and power make this car a great one to drive. Power steering and cruise control are two features I didn't have in my previous car, and I'm growing to love them!
Cons: feels cheap and possibly less safe as some others in its class.
Advice: Just getting to and from places at a low cost buy the car.98 thousand miles not a single problem except for a master slave clutch cylender covered under warrenty. I've abused this car and it has not sought retrobution. I've only change dthe oil 5 times and replaced the front brak pads once. The car still seems to be going strong. For the price it cant be beat. Going up hills it passes the Hondas and other subcompacts. It may be the fuel injection. It revs out with noise at about 80mph but can go to 90 or 95 without a problm for short periods. For the price and reliability and function of getting from point a to b its a great car.
Pros: 140 hp
Cons: stereo is less than i wanted. I'll upgrade
Advice: List the things you want from a car before you buyI have 1200 miles on my Elantre and it definatley has some get up and go when needed. Rap the accelerator and it takes off, in town or at expressway speeds. Just right for the daily comute. I chose it over the competetion for this and the little bit of extra leg room it has. The transmission seems to get confused when the car is cold at low speeds, and the am/fm cassette sound system is marginal. The trunk is one the mafia would be proud of. Lots of room. A good choice for the price. And what a warranty.
Pros: The many convenience and safety features of the car.
Cons: The poor quality of the fit for interior trim and components has been an onging problem.
Advice: Test drive and exam the vehicle you intend to buy. Do not accept a substitute. The 2.0 liter engine delivers plenty of power, but the transmission seems unable to find the right gear at speeds lower than highway cruising.
Pros: The motors power output.
Advice: Just buy it.First, just like any other car maker you have to find a dealer that will treat you the way one wants to be treated. The Elantra GLS is everything they say it is. Good looking, plush inside, and all and all a great deal that no other manufacture can beat. The ride and performance of this car is the best of many worlds. The ride is smooth, but nimble. You can go out for ride in comfort but also rip down a back road curve or two. The power output of the motor needs to be felt and seen. Romping down on the pedal brings the car to life and the tack dancing, like that of most sports models. No slug here, the Elantra GLS has power to spare. All in all once you get through the purchase of the car, bad or good, you will be left with a car that will always leave you pleased about your choice.
