Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: The many convenience and safety features of the car.
Cons: The poor quality of the fit for interior trim and components has been an onging problem.
Advice: Test drive and exam the vehicle you intend to buy. Do not accept a substitute. The 2.0 liter engine delivers plenty of power, but the transmission seems unable to find the right gear at speeds lower than highway cruising.
Cons: Cup holders could be better situated. This is only thing about the car I don't like.
Advice: Buy the turbo! This is a great little car. Power, comfort, road handling, great features. German engineering. This car is a blast to drive!!!!
Advice: If you want something sporty that handles the road nice; then the Toyota Celica is for you! All your friends will envy you!I own a 2001 Celica and it is my first car! I love the handling and sporty looks of the car! It holds the road very nicely and the braking and acceleration are very precise. I know that in the future when I am looking to buying a newer car, I will definitly consider buying another Toyota Celica!
Pros: Combination of extreme performance and luxury sedan amenities
Cons: Nothing, that I could see
Advice: If you are looking for a performance sedan, drive this one firstTo start, I must confess that I do not yet own one of these. It will take me a few months to raise the price of admission, and then I will own one. But, I certainly have test driven one. With 349 hp up high on the tach and 331 lbs/ft of torque down low, this is a performer, plus. The best and quickest way to describe it is as follows: A friend just bought a new Corvette automatic. I drove his car and was really impressed by the 'pull', but thought it not quite a true sports car by my definition. I said that I wished someone would make a car that performs like that, only in a more refined four door sedan. Well, someone has, and that car is the C32 AMG. Refinement is excellent, and makes the BMW M3 feel like driving a tractor! MB managed to put great performance suspension on the C32 without inducing harsh ride or road noise compared with its lesser relatives, the C320 and C240. With a 0-60mph time of 4.9 seconds and a 1/4 mile at about 106, it can give some of the senior Porches something to worry about. But it sacrifices nothing a good sedan should be. Very roomy and comfortable inside, compact outside. In my opinion, this is the undiscovered gem of the year. The only downside is the $50,000 to $55,000 price of admission. But considering that it is a true luxury car that just happens to wipe out Porches, that may actually be a bargain.
Advice: Buy a manual celica. If you don't know stick, then learn! The 2000+ celica is a great blend of looks, fun, performance, and practicality. The car handles great and has impressive acceleration for such a small engine. It takes some getting used to, but once you are acquainted with the high-reving 4-banger, you can really fly in this car. The hatchback trunk is huge and gets even bigger with the rear seats folded down. The GT-S gets good fuel mileage, but this is somewhat offset by its premium gas requirement. So if you want something unique, reliable, and fun, go for the celica.
Pros: The VR6 Engine
Cons: Entry to the backseat is a bit weird
Advice: Wait for the 2002 version which is supposedly going to have even more horsesTraded in my $35,000 (96 prices) 3-series BMW for a 2001 GTI and this car kicks the BMW's ass. Have had the GTI for just over a year now and have had zero problems with the car and it is still a blast to drive. Quality, performance, comfort, style, and features are comparable or beat cars that are much more expensive.
Pros: INTERIOR ROOM
Cons: Outside mirrors should be enlarged
Advice: Buy it before the price goes upKudos to VW for making a compact and roomy auto that is fun to drive. I am 6'3' tall and I have plenty of head, sholder and leg room. The car has plenty of cargo room. Acceleration and handeling performance are outstanding for any vehicle, particularly one priced less than $25,000. I have never owned a VW befor, so long as VW continues to provide this kind of quality and value, I will be a loyal customer!
