Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Cons: not much I dont like..
Advice: this car has many many options, make sure you get what you want (ie. floor mats)Ok....The 2 year lease on my 05 Nissan Titan LE crew crab was up, so I decided NO MORE $40k vehicles that suck gas! Being a truck driver for a company that is Chrylsers No 1 truck load carrier, I decided to go back to a chrysler vehicle. For my job, I haul the wiring harnesses to the Belvidere assembly plant where the caliber, patriot, and compass are assembled. I initally went to look at and purchase a Nitro; but after driving it and an R/T AWD Caliber, I fell in love with the Caliber! This is a great little car that gets alot of looks! especially with the factory 18' chome wheels. I have just over 1k miles on it, and am averaging 28 mpg (which is better than the 10mpg my titan got) I personally never thought I would get another car, because I hate anything but 4wd in the midwestern snow. We had one good snow fall after I got the car, and the AWD handled exceptionally! Word of advice: there are so many options for these cars and you need to be very careful to make sure you get everything you want. My car was fully loaded with everything including leather interier, yet it didnt come with floor mats (mats are an option) I did get them as an add on for $35. I see alot of 'not so good' reviews on the caliber and I think it boils down to some people just want a BMW type driving experience for $20k or under which is not realistic or fair to this little gem! Fuel economy and high performance are not synonymus with eachother! If you want 'balls out' performance, wait til mid year for the SRT/4 version which will boast 300 mph. This in an innovtative little car that I am very happy I purchased. I will say the CVT transmission was awkward at first, but I am use to it now! You become so prone to hearing an engine rev higher in RPM to shift, and you dont get that with the CVT. And the top of the line stero ROCKS!
Cons: no moonroof
Advice: Buy it guys great little car.Great start with full car. Had alot of power for a 4 cyl. appearance is unique. I fully recomend to buy.Test drive and you'll see.
Advice: NOT FOR PEOPLE WHO LIKE PERFORMANCE BUT LIKE THERE BANK ACCOUNTGAS MILEAGE IS GREAT, CVT TRANSMISSION IS TUNED PERFECTLY FOR POWER ITS LIKE DRIVING ON A CLOUD. VERY GOOD VALUE. CANT WAIT FOR THE SRT VERSION
Pros: The overall performance and comfort (oh and the stereo)
Cons: Rear wheel drive (I live in New England) but with the traction control i have had no problems
Advice: Test drive it...no REALLY test drive it. It's a great car! It's the best vehicle i have ever purchasedWas on my way to buy an Impala and then i drove a 2006 Magnum. I can't say enough about this vehicle. I have back trouble and the lumbar support in the seats makes this THE most comfortable car i have ever owned. Beats the socks of my old Explorer! Quick off the line, great looking and comfortable. As far as i can tell, the gas mileage has been very good. This is by far the best car i have ever purchased! My friends have said this car is 'so me' and quite frankly, yes it is! I bought the big V6 model, didn't like the thought of a V8 and gas prices, but the V6 is FAST! I also like the fact that i still have room to carry things in the back and the seats split for more carrying area if needed.
Pros: Looks and the HEMI
Cons: Laws against driving it like it like it could be driven
Advice: Get an RT you'll love it .Brush your teeth. You'll never get the smile off your face.Best handling (car) (station wagon) I have ever driven. I have Michelin 275/40 R on Ferretti 20' Rims. Really hangs in there with plenty of HEMI power. I just bought a 2005 loaded DEMO with 4,000 miles on it 2 months ago. The first time I saw one I wanted one but had to wait a while for a good deal. I think I got one $23,000 plus tax. Color (Inferno Red Crystal Pearl Coat) with two Silver racing strips. Or you could call it 'Arrest Me Red'
Pros: The cell phone holder in the console.
Cons: How the car handles on snow and slippery road conditions.
Advice: Buy something with better performance for the money. This vehicle is a company car. I had no choice in the matter. I had a Ford Taurus before, but a corporate decision was made to go with the Caliber. I am extremely disappointed with the overall performance of this vehicle. Also, as far as I am concerned, the gas mileage has been mis-represented. The engine is always reving so high and it burns so much fuel! I have had cars with bigger engines that got better gas mileage and performed better, because they did not have to work so hard. I can't use my cell phone on speaker when driving on the highway because of the excessive road noise. I do not understand why Dodge would put 18' wheels with low profile touring tires on an AWD vehicle. I drove in only a few inches of snow and the car was all over the road! Other vehicles were constantly passing me.
Pros: 425 HP!
Cons: No memory seats
Advice: if you can afford it and dont care about MPG, buy this carThis is the most fun you can have in a station wagon, under 95,000 $ !!!!! I love this car more than any other i've ever drivin.
