2005 Chrysler Town and Country - LX Long Wheelbase Passenger
Pros: Handling and interior room (stow and go seats!!!)
Cons: Can't think of anything
Advice: Best deal on the market
We considered a Honda Odyssey and a Toyota Sienna, but the difference in price was too great. We also considered a Dodge Grand Caravan (essentially the same as the T&C), but we got a terrific deal on the Chrysler. It seems like we find something new to like about this van every day. A great value that fully meets our current (and expected future) needs. Take a close look at this vehicle...you won't be disappointed! -
2006 Chrysler Town and Country - Passenger
Pros: Stow and GO -- Dual electric sliding doors
Cons: Rims -- nice but lots of work to clean
Advice: Don't purchase the DVD player with this model..... aftermarket recommended
Own it and Love it. I love the Stow and Go. It is a must for all minivans, including the middle seats. Have not had any problems with the 2006. -
2003 Chrysler Town and Country - LX FWD
Pros: the remote power rear hatch and side doors/DVD entertainment package
Cons: performace-needed too many things too soon
Advice: BEWARE!
With 3 children and alot of shopping this is a very comfortable vehicle. However at 17,000 miles needed new front brakes, 21,000 miles wouldn't start-needed new battery, 23,000 miles rear brakes and new ignition switch replaced twice, 26,000 miles throtle plate repaired, power lift gates gets stuck open at the most inconvenient times and has begun to rust. Now at 28,000 miles the engine light has come on twice in 2weeks and the dealer is suggesting that if I pay for the fuel injectors to be cleaned and a decarbonization It 'should' correct my problem but can't guarantee it he also suggests a tune-up! I has only been 2 1/2 years and manufacter warranty hasn't expired yet!! -
2002 Chrysler Town and Country - EX FWD
Pros: Comfortable, quiet, good ride, nice interior, good acceleration.
Cons: Chrysler does not stand behind their products, warranty is a fraud.
Advice: DON'T BUY A CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY
My wife and I purchased a T&C new in May 2002 and everything was great. Then at approximately 50,000 miles the engine began to use an excessive amount of oil. I took the vehicle to our local Chrysler dealership and explained the problem. Our service writer had us bring the vehicle in every 1000 miles to check the oil himself. Then the service writer requested to break down the engine to determine the nature of the problem. After having the engine examined, the service writer said no problem was found and that his mechanic had no explanation for the excessive oil use. The service writer gave us a Chrysler internal memo which states that it is not considered abnormal for our vehicle to use a quart of oil every 750 miles. What?!! I told the service writer about my concerns regarding the longevity of this engine. Unfortunately, Chrysler will not do anything else under warranty, such as replace the engine, to resolve this problem. The service writer and mechanic stated, OFF THE RECORD, that they disagree with this Chrysler policy, but they can't do anything about it. This is very disappointing, since we like this vehicle otherwise, but we will never buy another Chrysler product. -

Advice: Don't buy one.
I purchased a 2005 Town and Country in May of 05 and have had nothing but trouble out of the electrical system. In the eight months I have had it, the battery has been dead 7 times. The dealership seems to have no idea what the problem is. I have contacted Chrysler about the problem but have received no support. -

I purchased a 2005 T&C in November 2004. I have been very happy with the van until this past weekend when at 15000 miles I needed to have my front brakes replaced. I spoke with Chrysler and they felt that was normal wear and tear and there was no coverage. I have never had a vehicle need brakes repaired so early. I have owned Fords, Toyotas, and Oldmobiles. I am very unhappy with the response from Chrysler and therefore decided to voice my opinion on the web so other buyers will beware. This will be my last Chrylser. I should have bought the Honda. -
2005 Chrysler Town and Country - Limited Long Wheelbase Passenger
Pros: The ride and the STOW an GO seats
Cons: Hard leather seats and quality problems.
Advice: Wait till they improve the seats and overall quality before you buy this model or buy the Toyota Sienna.
I have owned this van about six months. I still can't get the seat adjusted to a point where I am really comfortable. As compared to the 1996 Town & Country LXI that I still own, the leather in the 2005 is very hard. They cheapened the front passenger power seat on the 2005 to a 4 way seat instead of the 8 way on the older version. This a definite minus on long trips. Because of an accelerator linkage change acceleration, the older car has a more positive feel. Also rear visibility is worse on the 2005 than on the old LXI. Our 2005 has had a persistent problem with the gear shift lever since we bought it that the dealers have not been able fix. It is frequently very difficult to move the gear shift lever out of the 'Park' position. It has also had several other problems including a defective power window that were repaired. We do like the STOW an GO feature but because of it Chrysler had make the floor higher which makes it harder to get into the car. I have back problems and the high step is painful. Tuning the radio and using the map device is more complicated than necessary. Gas mileage is about 20.5 around town and 21.8 on the road.
