Pros: Front end appearance
Cons: Defroster. Have to have it on high to keep the windshield clear
Advice: Get the LT for the second row seats and get traction controlEnjoy driving the vehicle. Definitly upgrade to the LT as the second row seats on the LS are horrible. Also, if in snow area get traction control. Previous vehicles had traction control and this is not good in snow without traction control.
Pros: DVD wireless headphones, OnStar
Cons: Body molding fit needs to be addressed at the factory.
Advice: DO NOT buy the base model, the LS & LT options are worth the upgrade!I purchased a Uplander LS three weeks ago. Really happy with the the vehicle, lots of perks and a reasonable price. The 17' aluminum wheels really make it standout, and one year free OnStar is a nice bonus as well! I test drove all the mini-vans (except the Kia), and the best bang for the buck was the Uplander. Sure the Honda was nice, but it's about 5-6,000 more for the same options. I tested the stow and go seats on the Chysler and Nissan, and I didn't like them at all. They reminded me of fancy lawn chairs, no way I buckle my children into those seats. FYI: My Uplander LS does have a 12V power port in the center of the dash below the radio near the floor!!!
Pros: Drives well
Cons: Fit and finish, electrical system, second seat design
Advice: Don't buyDriving performance is decent - comfortable - the kids love the DVD player... BUT - have noticed several problems... There appears to be some sort of issue with the electrical system, where the headlights and dome lights 'flicker' in intensity. On several occasions, I've turned the radio on, but no sound. I have to pull over, and restart the car, and then its fine. In 4000 miles that I've had it, the Accessory fuse has already blown once. Finally, fit and finish in some areas is pretty bad (exterior molding, interior door panels). My right cargo door needs to be slammed to close. The second seat is IMPOSSIBLE to reinstall easily. I got my fingers caught in the 'bear trap' release bar across the back trying to do this.
Pros: DVD system with wireless headphones
Cons: Having to read the book to figure out all the gadgetry.
Advice: Get the LT version for a little more money. It will be worth it!We bought the Uplander three weeks ago and are loving it! We bought it with all the bells and whistles but especially love the storage center in the rear, the XM satellite radio and the DVD system with wireless headphones. It has a nice ride and sits higher than the old Venture, giving it that more SUV feel. There have been no concerns with rattles, quality fit, or things that didn't work. The instrument panel is much nicer to look at than the previous Venture, particularly at night. The captain's chairs are especially comfortable, even for a 6'6' man. The tray table between the seats makes it nice to place your misc. stuff. We looked at the Buick version but thought that it had too much chrome. Saturn, Pontiac, Buick, and Chevrolet all make the same but just differ in little aesthetic things. For our money, we are very happy with the Uplander. Hope this helps.
Pros: The DVD system
Cons: Not enough room and luggage rack
Advice: check wiring harnessesDuring the test drive the 'Comfort System' only blew out cold air - the mode knob had to be played with to get hot air to come out. Was to be fixed before delivery on 12/21/04 and as of 1/30/05, still not fixed, has been in the shop for a total of 17 days thus far: other problems have started to occur: heated seats and head-lights. I want my VENTURE BACK!!!!!
Pros: the bells and whistles...DVD
Cons: 2nd row seats are tight on legroom
Advice: don't settle for the LSWe just picked up our Uplander a few days ago, but I am already quite pleasantly suprised with the comfort of the interior cabin as well as the performance and the look.
Pros: All Wheel ABS brakes
Cons: A lot of plastic in the interior.
Advice: Get either the LS or the LT, as they both have much more to offer than the base vehicle. Although the DVD system is standard for all trims. The drive of the vehicle was smooth and responsive, noting the drivability of the vehicle and a secure sense of being able to handle anything on the road.
