Cons: tow option transmission really bad milege when towing
Advice: Buy it, drive it, have funA 2001 with all options been in the shop once for a minor re-call 98k miles I'd take off tommorow and drive cross country with no hesitation Great truck 5.3 liter
Pros: front bucket seats
Cons: the quality
Advice: if you don't like XM or Onstar do not get the feature.I bought my 2005 Silverado in Feb. 2005, so far I've had a couple of problems with it... The first problem was a leak in the ac compressor, which was covered by the warranty, by the way all of these problems were covered. I also had a problem with the rear window seals they actually replaced both rear windows to fix the leak. Then came the CD player(bose system w/ Onstar & XM). The first time they took the radio out and sent it out for repair. I drove the vehicle without a radio for three days. The second time it happened the dealership ordered a radio (remanufactured) and installed it, it worked when I picked the truck at the dealer but it stopped working shortly after, all the gauges started going crazy all over the place, now they have ordered a new radio.... The last problem is the transmission, they tell me that it has to be reprogrammed because it sometimes starts off in second gear. All of these problems happenned within the first year.
Pros: The Bose stereo.
Advice: Test Drive all the rest and see for yourself!!!This is by far the best pick-up I have ever had.Its like driving my Living room!!!
Pros: Mechanically sound. all the added features that work through the instrument panel
Cons: Truck sits lower than other trucks , especially in the front. Chevy should lift them as high as the 2500 series so they look more robust
Advice: K&N filter, remove m.a.s. screens, different tires a must.5.3, 310HP motor has plenty of power with a 3.42 rear. I had a slight hesitation when shifting between gears, I put a K&N filter in and remove the massairflow sensor screens and WOW ,what an increase in power, the hesitation went away immediately. The Goodyear tires it came with stink. I went to a Firestone Destination LE tires and they are great, they're quiet and have good traction in rain and snow. The construction af the doors is not as sturdy as my Ford F150 nor the roof, but my F150 got 14mpg, this Chevy averages 18mpg around town, 20mpg on highway, after the K&N was installed. The interior is nice , the instrument panel top notch.I have had no mechanical problems whatsoever through 10000 miles.
Pros: Powerful but fuel efficient engine.
Cons: Radio controls are a bit 'busy'
Advice: Buy it and leave all those Nissan people in your dust!!!Its like driving a Corvette, but built like an A-1 Abrams tank!. Extremely powerful but gets 20+ MPG Hwy at 75mph!! Best truck so far, I have ever owned. Roomy, quick, powerful, growls like a pickup should. I have owned Fords, Dodges, Chevys, GMC, Suburu, this one is the creme-de-le-creme of them all.
Pros: The space
Cons: The 4-ply tires
Advice: Buy this truck!I bought my 2005 Silverado on July 18, 2005...so far, I have had absolutely no problems with it with the exception of the rear windows...they don't seem to seal very well and are making lots of noise when I drive on the highway. Hoping it's something that my dealer can take care of. Other than that, I love the truck...averages about 17-19 MPG, drives and rides very smooth, and is tough. I've had it out in pastures and down gravel roads and it takes it. Great truck so far!
Cons: Front brake system
Advice: Don't take the vehicle off the lot without the front brake system being replaced.Brake booster was faulty on my truck. It caused premature wear on the rotor. GM will turn the rotor but not replace. Owner is stuck with the cost of replacing the rotor prematurely.
