Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Push button ignition
Advice: Take the sport suspension packagePurchasing the new BMW 325 was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I had a Mercedes C-class and let me tell you, the performance of the BMW is miles ahead. The engine is very smooth. The handling is unbelievable especially I took the sport suspension package. A great combination of power, sport, luxury and performance.
Pros: The looks of the car.
Cons: Very very poor quality
Advice: Buy the 5 series or find another manufacturer. The appearance of the car is beautiful and that's where it stops. The first thing you notice is the whiney transmission. It sounds like an old Ford pickup. The road noise is very loud. The car was using oil every 1200 miles and finally they replaced the engine at 10000 miles. I had the car back for two weeks and they had to replce the steering rack. I talked to BMW USA and asked that the car be replaced and they claimed that I should wait and see if other problems come up. Is this the BMW experience they talk about in their ads. The dealership has been very accomodating, but trying to get BMW to live up to commercials will not happen. This has been a horrible experience.
Pros: performance, style, and name brand.
Advice: get a lexus or don't expect to have a perfect reliable BMW. Plan to take it to the shop and be sure to get the extended warranty!Okay so BMW is more classy than a Honda, VW, and what not (maybe?), but I have had serious problems with mine. Not just minor service requirments but major issues. I have had to have the car towed twice. The first because the car was shaking violently. They needed to replace the coils in the engine. That took a week and they did not have a loaner car for me. I had to rent one. Then it died on my in a parking lot and had to get a tow truck to the dealership. It was not the battery, they had to replace the fuel tank. Then a few months after that all the brakes had to be replaced. BMW is a great ride yes, but reliability no.
Pros: Handling and suspension
Cons: To sensitive sensors wise
Advice: Best suspension in the market, check forWe have had the car for 16000 miles so I know what I am talking about. Handling is superb compared with other vehicles in its class. Performance is nice not a racing machine but if you know how to push it you will have some fun. Suspension is the best its stiff at some point but soft and smoth at the same time( best suspension out there). These cars are to sensitive. Check engine light went on because of engine sofware problems(car was jerking while being accelerated over 65mph),it seems some problem with the spark timing, BMW is aware of it and they are fixing it. In addition, the rear door stoped working, after going twice to the dealer they figure out that it was lack of lubrication, being caused from washing the car and water getting in the locks. They are not big cars. They are cramped in the back if a tall person wants to drive comfortable in the front. Toyota Corolla has more leg room in the back compared with the BMW, also the Corolla does not let you pull the drivers seat that far back to increase leg room. Tires are good, no noise but Continentals are not that good. My front passenger tire has a bump already on it. Wind noise is minimal if not none. Over all the car is awesome, I can not talk about durability because I have only drive it for 16000 miles. The car is a good buy and your money its being put in something very confortable.
Pros: auto wipers
Cons: My car is a lemon.
Advice: Buy a Lexus. My new 2006 325i is spending it's 4th day in the service dept at BMW of Austin. The first time it was towed in, I had the harness replaced. My car suddenly died outside of Austin. Roadside assistance took 3 different tow trucks to get the car, because it locked up and shut down in park. Luckily we were on a dirt road, not the highway. The next visit was for an oil pressure issue. And it is back again for the same issue.
Pros: all wheel drive
Advice: get this car its sporty, fun, dependable, get away if you abuse cars!!!this is a very go0od car for the snow, i have a mitsubishi montero with 4wd and a mitsubishi 3000gt which is front wheel drive this drive much better in the snow than either of them,(CERTAINLY BETTER THAN MY 5 SERIES or my volvo)anyways this is a dependable car with good fuel economy, however if your looking for a car not to take care of don't get this one. Its a BMW not a camry it does deserve respect. In the end get this car if you live anywhere but not if you have a big family, this is a smaller sedan. Feel free to email me with questions Vanquish747@hotmail.com (i also own a v12 vanquish hence the email address)
Pros: Excellent ride and road feel.
Cons: No complaints.
Advice: Many models, so decide what is most important: price, hp, 2D/4D, etc. There is just no way to describe the fun this car is to drive: go test drive it. Responsive, great road-feel, fast, brakes well, beautiful inside and out, full-featured as a base-model, and a kick-butt stereo to boot! Don't waste your time on the Datsuns and 'Toys,' this is the car you want.
