Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: lots of storage compartments
Cons: I wish the seat went back further.
Advice: Get the one you want
I love the performance. In most economical cars you loose performance when you get high economy. Not here, considereing the car gets 34 miles to the gallon and can still get up and go.Pros: gas mileage
Cons: no clock
Advice: buy it put good tires on it and undercoat for road noise
great car for the money, when new I put on a set of Michlien tires for a better ride and I undercoated it to reduce road noise You would not believe the difference it made.Pros: Efficiency.
Cons: I need cruise control.
Advice: Save money and the environment with little sacrifice.
Everyone kept telling me: Corolla or Focus. I'm so glad I ignored them. This is a gorgeous, distinctive car that I am personally overwhelmed with. For what it is, it has power. For what it is, it has comfort. And it was designed for efficiency, and it delivers. Sometimes I wonder if the gas gauge is broken, as it seldoms moves. Otherwise, the Echo is easy to park. It needs just over a lane for a 360% turn. And there's just something magical about burning past SUV's on the highway, getting -double- their gas mileage. really, you have to try it.Pros: High seating position
Cons: Lack of center armrest.
Advice: Shop around and you'll get a good deal.
Took me three years, but I finally considered it, drove it and fell in love with it. My fears that it would feel unstable and tippy are gone. I have driven it on the highway, on the street, on rainy and stormy days, at night, on windy days, and I have not felt unsafe in this car. Handles great, has enough power, and it is comfortable. Visibility is exceptional as well as maneuverability. Gave up a convertible for this car.Pros: just phat and dope, you dont see many, very reliable
Cons: no power windows??? say whut???
Advice: just hook it up and get your floss on
This car is just off the chain. You don't see many of them on the road, and my guess is that America's love affair with SUV's won't allow them to check out something so small. Too bad. The Echo offers a lot for a low price. It is a Toyota so you know it will keep going like the Energizer bunny. Plus it has a peppy tricked out engine and lots of storage compartments. Even the double decker glove box gets mad props from me and my nappy crew. I wish it had more power action, at least some power windows. When I bounce up to Taco Bell it is wack to have to roll down my window. Maybe the 03 model of the Echo will offer more stuff so keep your eyez open.Pros: its an echo
Cons: all the SUv's running over me
Advice: upgrade upgrade upgrade
Where do I start. This car is so much for the money, plus it has the Toyota name on it. I got mine with all 3 upgrade packages and it is worth it, I don't have to reach across the car to roll down the window. Neat, huh? Plus the car will fly and gets like 38 mile per gallon. It has storage spots all over the vehicle to put cd's gameboy games etc in so that is nice. On the down side you get run off the road by all the big SUV's but I can drive in most ditches fairly well. You get used to it. Just loosen up the steering column and inflate the tires, and the echo will keep on echoing. Oh what a feeling.Pros: Wonderful gas mileage
Cons: No cruise control
Advice: Test drive this first and save yourself a lot of time trying others.
This is by far the best car I have owned in many, many years. My father-in-law loved the car so much, he sold his pick up truck and bought one for himself. My dad loves the car so much that when we go for a drive, he likes to drive. It handles well and maneuvers turns and parking lots with the greatest of ease. Even my daughter who is in college loves the ease of this car. The inside is roomy enough for the tallest people, with a trunk large enough to carry whatever I need and fold down seats for added room to haul. In these times of financial uncertainties, the high gas mileage is a great comfort. People are always looking at it trying to figure out exactly what it is - a VW PT Cruiser combo? They say it looks foreign, well that's because it is. With such a great price we are looking to buy a second one, stick this time. I have not enjoyed a car this much in a very long time and recommend it to anyone. We drove it from Ohio to Florida when we first bought it a year ago, and the drive was very comfortable. There are lots of compartments and storage spaces, and who could argue five cup holders. My husband is the one with all the common sense, and after checking out other cars in much higher price ranges, he decided this car had everything and more that we were looking for. The only thing I would add, is cruise control. Susan in Ohio
