Pricing Announced for 2012 Toyota Yaris, Other 2012 Toyota Models

Although Toyota is expected to introduce a redesigned Camry in coming months, the biggest news has been the redesign of the 2012 Toyota Yaris, and the pricing for this new subcompact, and a few other 2012 model Toyotas, was announced today. In addition to the all-new Yaris, Toyota will give the full-size Tundra and Sequoia minor updates, while the Sienna minivan and FJ Cruiser both get minor pricing changes for 2012.

2012 Toyota Yaris

The subcompact market is full of redesigned competitors for the 2012 model year, and the Toyota Yaris is joining the party with a complete redesign. As have many of its rivals, the 2012 Toyota Yaris will see an increase in MSRP for its new model with a new starting price of $14,115. That is up $960 compared to the current model’s base price of $13,155, but Toyota is quick to point out that the new Yaris will come with $1,000 in additional standard equipment. Of course, this new price does not include the destination and handling charges which total $760. Compared to its competitors, the Yaris is priced pretty good with all of the key hatchback rivals starting near or above the Yaris’ base price including the Honda Fit and Fiesta hatchback starting over $15,000. The sporty Yaris SE will be the top trim level with its “enhanced tuned suspension” and a starting price of $17,100 when equipped with the automatic transmission. The 2012 Toyota Yaris will be available in three- and five-door configurations, and it will go into production on August 31.

2012 Toyota Sequoia

On the opposite end of Toyota’s product mix, the full-size 2012 Toyota Sequoia is getting a few upgrades for the new model year while carrying over the same $40,930 starting price as the 2011 model. The biggest news for the new Sequoia is the addition of a Trailer Sway Control system as standard equipment on all trim levels. Another minor change is the new black trim on the top of the instrument panel and matching black carpet on all models regardless of interior or exterior colors. A new exterior color, Sizzling Crimson Mica, is being added and a Blind Spot Monitor will now come standard on the top Platinum trim level. The 2012 Toyota Sequoia is offered in three trim levels (SR5, Limited and Platinum) as well as two engine options and the choice of two- or four-wheel drive with the top-of-the-line 2012 Sequoia Platinum 4x4 with a Flex Fuel V-8 topping out at $61,305. These prices do not include the $895 destination and handling charges which will be required on the new Sequoia when it goes into production on August 29.

2012 Toyota Tundra

Closely related to the Sequoia, the 2012 Toyota Tundra appears to be dropping its Regular Cab configuration as Toyota now lists the base model as the 4x2 Double Cab model starting at $26,775. Compared to the same body style for 2011, this represents an increase of $340 which is applied to just about all 2012 Tundra models. Inside, the new Tundra will feature the same black instrument panel and carpet as the Sequoia, while new steel wheels will be standard on all 2012 Tundras. All 2012 Tundras also come standard with daytime running lights, heated door mirrors and the Cold Weather Package which includes a heavy-duty battery and starter, windshield wiper de-icer and mud guards at all four wheels. The top Tundra Limited trim level, which tops out at $42,955, now comes with a standard backup camera and the option of Super White exterior paint. Like the Sequoia, the prices for the 2012 Tundra do not include the $895 destination and handling charges, and it goes on sale on September 1.

2012 Toyota Sienna

The 2012 Toyota Sienna goes into production on September 6, and some trim levels will see price increases including the front-wheel drive, seven-passenger Sienna SE which is now $2,090 more expensive. The base Sienna cargo van is still $24,520 which is unchanged in the van’s second year on the market. The top-of-the-heap Sienna Limited all-wheel drive holds its price as well with a starting price of $40,750, and none of these prices include the $810 destination charge.

2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser

The 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser will be available in three variations with prices ranging from $25,990 for the two-wheel drive version up to $27,580 for the four-wheel drive model with the automatic transmission. All prices are up by $200, do not include the $810 destination charge.
