Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Air Conditioning and heating coming from the floor in the back seat area.
Cons: The sour gas smell.
Advice: It is a fairly good car if you can deal with the bad smell. The biggest problem with the Corolla is that the cadilitic converter lets of a sour gas smell randomly. It can be smelt in and out of the car and it is a quite strong smell. Toyota refuses to do anything about this smell and says that it is normal. This smell starts to appear some time around the end of the break in period.
Pros: The cruise control.
Cons: No beep when I lock the car remotely.
Advice: The is a great car. Buy it.This car is a bargain. It handles great and it routinely exceeds my expectations.
Pros: Leather interior in an affordable car
Cons: No power seat on drivers side
Advice: Buy it!!!Having had two Jetta's the last several years, I was reluctant to test a new vehicle. I saw the new 2002 Corolla in a dealers lot, and it was love at first sight. I purchased it the following morning and love it!
Cons: rear view (too obstructed by rear head rests)
Advice: At least check it out it's worth your time at the very least.I drove it for an hour and I enjoyed every sec. It's like a baby lexus, but without the whole in your pocket. It handles excellent, accelerates well, and looks like a million.
Pros: The stereo and the dashboard (feel like an expensive car)
Cons: Alloy wheels and cruise control are options.
Advice: Test drive all the cars in this class and make your own judgement. I ended up with Civic anyway.2003 Corolla isn't any bigger than the previous model. Of course, it appears to be bigger than the previous generation, but the interior is still somewhat the same size. Why it looks bigger? Because there is lots of gaps inside the hood. There is not much leg room (Civic has more leg room which is really comfortable) in the front but the back is fine. No map/magazine holders. The switch for the interior lamp moved to the dashboard (driver's side). It's good forthe driver, but it can be pain in the butt if you're the passenger who eventually have to ask the driver to turn on the light for you. Backseat is somewhat tight but Civic's backseat is more comfortable (I tested drive Civic and Corolla on the same day) The engine makes a louder noise than Civic. The suspension in both cars is reallt nice; smooth and quiet. I tested Hyundai as well, but I dismissed it because the dealer is too far away; even though it's a really great car. Well, I don't know what else to tell ya, so I guess that's it. :-)
Pros: Automatic Lights that come on when its dark and go off by themselves.
Cons: The cupholder is a little flimsy.
Advice: If you are looking for an economical family-sized car with nice features this is for you!It is good acceleration. Smooth handling, and can park on a dime.
Pros: Great price with a lot of options. Solid. Quality.
Cons: The acceleration could be better.
Advice: If you're not looking for real sporty looks, but an affordable, quality car loaded with options, this car is great!Very smooth and quiet ride. Affordable with a lot of options. The S model comes with a spoiler and sporty steering wheel. The fog lights also give this car more character. Great gas mileage!
