Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Exceptional gas mileage. I could easily get 275 miles in the city driving in rush hour before refueling.
Cons: Very poor handling. You never really feel in control.
Advice: Open the car up on the interstate before deciding to buy.I test drove the XRS on a congested city road and thought the car handled well enough to buy. I was in a hurry because my last car was seriously dying and after reading all the specs on this car, I thought it would be a good gamble. Now.. after 3000 miles (6 weeks) I traded the car in. I absolutely hated how the car handled at higher speeds on the interstate. The car would literally float left or right and never really aligned properly in spite of taking it in for realignment. The car was relatively quick, but lacked torque. The 6 disc CD stereo was a nice feature, but lacked true quality. Wind noise is high on the freeway. The 6th gear is nice, but definitely more for overdrive than anything. Other than that, the car is a decent economy car. Now that I've traded it in for a 2005 Scion tC, I'm ecstatic! You must, must, must test drive the tC before purchasing the XRS. They're both the same price and the tC is far underpriced! Completely night and day between the tw o vehicles and now I could not be more satisfied. Not even with a BMW 3.. Trust me.
Cons: Wish tires were a little bit wider, taller.
Advice: I restore cars as a hobby, Toyota has the best built new car line for under $20K.Bought my daughter her first car a used 1993 Camry, so impressed with the quality went back and bought a 2005 Corolla for me. Got rid of a Volvo S40, tired of the expensive parts and dealership that treats you like you know what. Now I am trying to get my wife to buy anything Toyota.
Cons: Sunroof noise when open & the fact that it stops at 3/4 when closing
Advice: I highly recommned the corollaThe Corolla S is exactly what I expected, excellent value, good performance, superior quality. No hassle ownership. Although, I'm a little embarrased to have a spoiler on a vehicle with 130 HP. I got the 5 speed for a little extra ump.
Pros: the ride........its smooth and it handles very well and the styling
Advice: Don't let it's small size fool you.. it's a BIG car only in a small package....i love it!I just love my 2005 Corolla, it's like having the luxury and ride of a camry in this smaller version and it is excellant on gas.......my husband is a big man and he is comfortable in this vehicle.... it's a great car!
Pros: It economical car , I love the lights and shape of Carolla S sports car.
Cons: it only comes in 4 cyclinder
Advice: buy it you love it and still have its value for car.. you wont refretI have been buying Toyota Carolla for past few years and i havnt had any problem with my Carolla , they are economicaly good running car. Easy to handle. And its good for single person like me. Easy to maitain , runs good all the time. I have been buying new Toyota carolla every year. Good on fuel effiency.
Pros: gas mileage
Advice: Drive both the s and xrs to determine if you want the added power.I have just ordered my new corolla s and am very excited. I got to test drive one on the lot, however they didn't have exactly what I was looking for. I drove an s and an xrs, while the xrs was peppier I opted to save the $2500 and drop the 170 hp to 130. The bodies exterior are the same if you opt for the sports package with alloys and rear spoiler. While the appearance seems boring to some people I tend to like the look. I'll let you know more when mine comes in.
