Toyota FT-1 Concept Walkaround With William Chergosky

At one time, Toyota was known for building vehicles that excited the senses. Models such as the Supra, Celica, MR2, and Corolla FX16 were loved by many for their performance. Since the 2000's, however, models such as those began to disappear and Toyota became known for building 'plain jane' models. The past few years have seen Toyota attempting to buck that trend though, and rediscover their lost roots with models such as the Scion FR-S, Lexus IS-F, and the upcoming RC coupe.

Now, the automaker is turning the focus on itself with the FT-1 Concept, shown at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. The concept is a two-seater, rear-drive coupe with lines that are normally found on a Ferrari and not a Toyota. William Chergosky, Toyota's CALTY Design Project Manager, gives us a walkaround.
