Tips on How to Wash Your Car — Meguiar’s Car Care Series Step 1 of 5

Washing your car is the first step in the paint care cycle, and it’ll be discussed in depth in this video in the Autobytel and Meguiar’s car care series. A lot of people simply wash their cars and leave it at that, but if you really want a perfect, well protected finish on your car, washing is really just the start. This step gets rid of loose contaminants that might just be sitting on the finish, or might actually be a little stuck to it. Things like dirt, dust, bugs, and road grime might not seem all that harmful, but if they’re sitting right on the clear coat, they can eventually cause damage to the finish. Car care experts recommend washing your car yourself instead of going to a car wash facility or service. That way, you know you’re using a high quality product and that your car will be washed the way you want. Choose a product that is designed specifically for cars, and follow the instructions on the package to make sure it’s mixed properly. Have a high quality wash mitt ready, as well as a second bucket of clean water to rinse the mitt frequently. Stay tuned for the next video from Autobytel and Meguiar’s to see what comes next.
