Subaru Makes A Return To The Isle of Man With A 2015 STI

Hoping To Set A New Four-Wheel Record

In 2011, Subaru accomplished a major feat when the company broke the long-standing four-wheel record at the Isle of Man TT. Using a lightly modified 2011 WRX STI (roll cage, race harnesses, and a fire extinguisher for safety purposes), driver Mark Higgins was able to complete the 37.75 mile TT Mountain Course in a time of 19:56:7 at an average speed of 115.356 MPH. This year, the company is planning to beat that.

At this year's Isle of Man TT, Subaru will compete with a 2015 STI that, like the 2011 champ, has been lightly modified (roll cage, race harness, fire suppression system and slight changes to the suspension to deal with the high speeds of the course). Mark Higgins will once again be the driver for this attempt.

We'll keep you posted on Subaru's attempt when it happens later in May. In the meantime, you can check out Higgins' first attempt at breaking the record in the video featured here.
