Pros: Stability control
Cons: Uses premium gas, 4 speed automatic vs 5 speed auto or CVT
Advice: new model out next SummerTook delivery 29 Dec 03. I wanted an AWD car with stability control. I have about 750 miles on it now. We have had no snow since I got it, but should soon. I wanted to keep the price under $30,ooo if possible. Most cars/suvs with the stability control would be more $$. The Passat 4 motion might be a contender.
Pros: The AWD, and overall quality of the vehicle.
Cons: The low gas milage
Advice: Research all of the features you want and go into the dealership knowing more than the salespersonAs others, I appreciate the AWD feature of this vehicle, particularly living in WI. This is my fourth Subaru and perhaps my favorite. The ride is fairly smooth, quiet, and the car has a tight feeling overall. I have had no problems with the fit and finish or mechanics thus far.
Pros: all wheel drive, ABS brakes
Cons: seats are smaller, stereo only fair
Advice: get the 2.5GTi was looking for a car to lease as my company transferred me to Central VA. wanted something comfortable, economical and more importantly, would take me through the winters (and now hurricanes). my mechanic suggested this car. Mechanically, very reliable, stable, good power for a 4-cylinder, great short shift and tight clutch. seats are not as comfortable as my mazda 626, a little noisier, and not as tight fit (windows have wind noise, doors sound a little tinny when slammed shut). Ride is fairly smooth, stereo only fair (i would recommend upgrade to 2.5GT - i only got the special edition), A/C - heating very good, love the moonroof and driving it in bad weather makes one feel very, very confident. With the 5-speed and highway driving (i drive over 200 miles a day), i'm averaging 27 miles/gallon, so i don't feel as guilty as the SUV owners. Over-all, i would buy again, but get the 2.5GT.
Cons: Passenger seat is not automatic, unlike driver seat.
Advice: Go for what you want or need, then look at the price. The AWD system grips the road and is a noticeabe difference. Subaru Outback line has all the luxury (L.L. Bean and VDC models) of a BMW, the off road capabilities of a SUV, and the comfort and feel of a sedan. With a nice price.
Cons: No GSP!
Advice: Buy It !!! This car is Great!!!!This Car has it all except no gsp.Other than that, it is one fine wagon.
Pros: Rearview mirror
Cons: not enough ground clearance
Advice: Buy from a reputable dealer.Excellent handling. Crash results are reassuring. Knowing it's a Subaru makes the price a bit more bearable.
Pros: Heated windshield wipers
Cons: Display lights on both radio and climate controls need to work together
Advice: Drive all the other competitors and save the Outback for last, see the difference! After checking several all-wheel drive cars and trucks in the same class, the Outback H3-3.0 sedan wins! The interior is beautiful, easy to use and is assembled of high-quality materials. No other car could beat the options at the same price. I even tried the entry-level Land Rover and the Subaru is superior. The BMW's all-wheel drive system in not even close to the smoothness of the Outback. The best part is the power of the engine!! The supercharged 4cylinder of the Audi doesn't match the wonderful energy of my 3.0 boxer engine in my Subaru. It's my first Subaru and will probably not be my last. Once you drive one in the snow, you're sure to be sold!!
