I adore my new Subaru
Pros: The way it clings to the road when it drives! It is SO fun to drive!
Cons: Gas mileage could be better.I recently purchased a new Subaru Outback Sport, trading in an old truck that was really having issues. This car has a smooth ride and is zippy and fun to drive. It turns corners on a dime and for a small car has lots of room on the interior. The only thing I don't really like about it is the gas mileage. It really doesn't get the best mileage for a small car, but I guess that is the trade-off for the AWD, which I know I'll be glad to have come winter with its ice and snow. I looked at lots of cars and drove quite a few. This little Subaru was the only one in it size class that felt solid and sturdy.

Cons: Basic sound system is a joke. Needs sport exhaust--can barely hear revs for precise down-shifting.
Advice: Be prepared to drive like a saint or pay the piper. The hood scoop might as well be a flag.Caution: when you're driving a WRX, remember to breathe. Love, love, love. Owning a WRX leads to what I call the WRX sneer--the destorting effect of an ear-splitting grin at high accelleration. It's an AWD 265hp turbo wagon that corners like a go-cart--the perfect car for a New England woman in the music business. Great cargo space/rear seating arrangement that hauls five grownups with decent head and leg room or about a dozen djembes, or three cellos, or ten guitar cases or, with 60/40 split seats, any combination of all these. I happily do a lot of the driving :) for about any event...anywhere. A high speed hairpin corner is easy--just downshift and hit the gas--with AWD, that turbo digs in like a cutting pony. More power would just be silly--so the STI is for gearheads if you ask me. My friend who drives a Porsche felt the need to defend his car after driving my WRX. 'Nuf said. He did win a single point from me about transmissions. The WRX 5-speed is geared well, but it feels a bit primitive and slow to me. Hope it breaks in a bit smoother. An overdrive or some kind of 'Highway' gear would be quiet enough for any kind of music even with a performance exhaust, and very green too. Since Subaru is synonymous with New England, the auto climate should have a 'Parka' setting. Picky, picky. This is a nimble, exciting sports car. It has a remarkable safety record, legendary road worthiness, is actually affordable, comfortable, and offers solid resale value because it's a Subaru.

Advice: dont buy subaru, buy toyota or something reliable, by friend the mechanic loves subaru, gues why?I an surprised how poorly the quality control is for subaru. at 15k it needed a new clutch, at 20k it needed a new head gasket, at 10k it needed a new rear wheel bearing, the same replaced bearing needed replacement at 50k, also at 50k it needed new rear knuckles at a price of 600$. now at 55k both rear struts are totally shot, to make matters worse, these are all widley known problems with subaru impreza for years, yet the company doesnt care. been to the dealer many times, never given a loaner car, had to pay for a cab for weeks.

Advice: don't pay more than stickerHave only test driven this car (will buy later this year). It's been quite a few years since I had to give up my turbo RX-7, and I figured it was time to step into a fast car again. The blend of function and speed made this car appear quickly on my list. This car was very responsive, quick, no lean on tight curves, and a stupid smile quickly appeared on my face. Cons: for the cost of the base model, you don't even get the spoiler or sunroof (my VW Golf has heated seats and a sunroof), also, the road noise is much worse than the impreza RS. Thirdly, I think the fog lights should be standard and I'm not all that impressed with the design of the back end. Pros: FAST, with LOTS of torque (compare with the more-expensive RX-8). Also, while the RX-8s and mustangs of the street will be stuck at home in inclement weather, this all wheel drive - low center of gravity beast will be flying through the snow and mountain passes. If I have to give up some creature comforts for the advanced performance and engineering, I think it's worth it.
